That's why we need to fight for 3rd and hopefully Arsenal will continue to fall away. Imagine if Arsenal won the FA Cup but finished 5th. The sight of Arsene weeping into the cup because he lost the "bigger trophy" would be quite funny.
http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/ We're 32nd in the Uefa rankings at the moment. When we are out of Europe we got a score of 2 and 3... even in Europa you get scores above 10 which keep you up there. Just shows why being in Europa is important if you're aiming to then get into the Champ League. Means you wont be going in as 4th seed and instead possibly 2nd or 3rd.
So, 32nd. Meaning if only 1-7 teams above us miss UCL qualification, we'll still be 4th seed. If 8-15 of the teams above us miss UCL qualification, we'll be 3d seed. It will be close. I can see 6-9 of the teams above us not making it. In any case, we'll certainly have 2 tough ones in our group.
Next year our score will drop dramatically as the 24 points we got for last competing in the CL will be wiped out. Think we'd likely to be seeded 4th or 3rd if we're very lucky.
i think our 5 years dropped off a cliff but here http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/trank2014.html we are apparently down to 32 which is way lower than tottenham who are useless this is why finishing higher in league is vital. it will take franly 5 years to get to top 10 as the bad years sit there for a while
32. Liverpool FC ENG 09/10 24.585 10/11 15.671 11/12 3.050 12/13 12.285 13/14 2.985 ===== Total 58.578 So, the fifth year (09/10) is dropped? If so, the seeding takes into account only four years.
I was about to respond to you but can see you've already put what I was going to say... We'll b lucky to make the third seeds so may as well not be seeded. Fingers crossed for the qualifying draw should we finish fourth.
For 2013/14 it was: Pot One: Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal, FC Porto, Benfica. Pot Two: Atletico Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, AC Milan, Schalke, Marseille, CSKA Moscow, PSG, Juventus Pot Three: Zenit, Man City, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Basel, Olympiakos, Galatasaray, Leverkusen Pot Four: FC Copenhagen, Napoli, Anderlecht, Celtic, Steaua Bucuresti, Viktoria Plzen, Real Sociedad, Austria Vienna Pot 2, in bold... not afraid of those little f**kers. So if we get 3d pot, and we draw a weak second seed like that, we're through!
This was Man City's third season in the CL and they've won a domestic title in that time too yet they were only in pot 3 this season. Assuming we get top four and 2008-09 drops off we will be in pot 4. Can't say I mind this, yes we'd be more liekly to go out but it means we'll have some top games to look forward too
All luck of the draw, I look at that and you could easily get a Benfica, Moscow, Basel and Us for example. Hardly difficult, all depends which balls UEFA decides to warm.
We're never gonna flame out in the group stage . We'll be in pot 3, as 10 teams above us will fail to qualify! : Inter, Lion, Sevilla, Valencia, ACMilan, Tottenham, Marseille, PSV, CSKA, RubinKazan. And then, we'll draw a lousy pot 2 seed like a Shakhtar or a Zenit or a Basel or a Leverkusen or a Ajax or an Olympiakos. Done.
#optimism Who could we potentially get in a qualifier? Am I right in thinking the qualifiers are no longer seeded?
Realist TBH - at least 8 teams above us ain't making the CL, bet on it. Arsenal was in pot #1 and they went through the qualifier...
How can you possibly be a realist with a random draw? Especially when we don't even know who will be in said draw The qualifiers don't effect the seeding for the group stages. What I meant was, if we finish fourth we'll have to play a qualifier. I don't think seeding applies to the qualifying draw but any ideas what big teams could be in that?
I'm telling you G, we'll be in pot#3 and will have a 60% chance of drawing a fluffy kitten from pot#2. We'll get 3d place in the league imo and we'll leave the qualifier to Arsenal to think about as per usual.
