The original version of the CJA was very much a "police state" type of legislation - banning gathering of 20 or more people but I think it was amended in 2003 to remove a lot of the draconian "laws"?
I'm sure you're right. A mate of mine got done under in in about 95/96 for disrupting a fox hunt. It was basically his word against one of the huntsman. Guess who the judge believed? He got bound over for a year.

What about if you just finished your paper round and walked home through an area where people were protesting? That definately deserves a wacking by the coppers resulting in a fatal heart attack.
