Agreed, how do you think Fellaini has done at United so far ?

He's been ****, from what I've seen of him.

You can't play him in a 4 man midfield, and he's at his most useful playing as an attacking midfielder, not a holding player.

But he's never going to get that role at United, so I really have no idea why Moyes bought him for you.

Brendan Rodgers: Sunday is a game we are really looking forward to. For us it's about retaining the focus.

He took a season to settle in at Goodison, we were calling him a flop.

When he's played in a more advanced role he can be unplayable when he's really up for it. He's unique in that role, as deep lying centre mid he's just a spoiler who concedes plenty of freekicks.

Something similar is happening at United then.

He's not got the same excuse now though, as this is his 6th season in the EPL. He was way off the pace when arrived from Belgium.

He should have just slotted in at United, but Moyes is using him wrongly imo.

No offence but we're a bigger club than you, it takes players time to settle in as well.

I doubt you'll ever see the best of him at United mate, as your fanbase won't accept seeing him where he's at his best, as the 'style' of football wouldn't be deemed acceptable, so Moyes won't dare play it.

I'm sure our fans will, he'll come good, i'll be proved right like i was when people were saying the same thing about De Gea.

But Matth it's not comparable. De Gea was a young keeper in a new league so no surprises that he's taken time to settle. As Tobes said, Fellaini is already a well established P.L player playing for the manager he had at Everton, so the transition should be relatively seamless. The big problem of course is that you already have better players than him in his preferred role off the striker so you'll never see him in that position.

Tobes knows the lad more than I do but from what I've seen, he looks far too immobile and prone to giving away too many free kicks to be a success in central midfield at the top level demanded at a United.

Lets call the signing what it is, a last minute desperate attempt to bring in someone late in the window to save face.

A lot of players have joined us over the last 10 years and couldn't cope with the pressure of being at a big club, i'm confident that won't happen to Fellaini, once he's fully settled at United.

Same as UIR, I'd like to see Evans over Smalling.

Also would like to see how we get on with Fletcher and Fellaini for a game. I think Fletch would give us a bit more defensive energy, and would allow Fellaini to get forwards more. Carrick and Fellaini are a bit too static at times, and not really mobile enough to cover each other when they get forwards. They were cut to pieces against City, and we'd run the risk of the same problem against Liverpool.

The only caveat to that is of course whether Fletch has recovered enough to play a full match at high level.

Carrick and Fellaini is a midfield disaster against big sides, a bit like when we play Lampard and Mikel together.

How has Fletcher performed since he returned though? He was brilliant for a couple of years but can't imagine he's anywhere near that level now.

He should play Carrick & Fletcher & should push Fellaini up to play against Gerrard imo, as he'd not be able to cope with him from a defensive perspective & he'd close him down and cut out the 'Hollywood' punts....
