Thank you Ponders, I said Reza had no pace or strength when he first played and no one agreed with me! Good to hear Ponders about the display from Pritchard and Sordell, bit weirded out that Dyer is still there.... he's about as useful as a chocolate teapot, and how he has kept a job after Powell left is beyond me, Dyer is useless and was a yes man for Powell
First half decent second half as bad as anything I've seen this season ... 2 points lost against uninterested Huddersfield. So much for the new manager effect is that as good as it gets then !
I think Reza could be useful alongside a target man, someone who can do the donkey work for him, but too often tonight he was dropping back to pick up the ball and then running into the proverbial brick wall (Clarke). He is just too weedy for the rough end of the league. When Pritchard came on, I actually groaned, yet I was pleasantly surprised by his performance. By no means is he our saviour, and by no means do I think he should occupy a starting berth, but he looked assured with his passing and movement. Sordell received a good ovation when he came off for Bumblefoot (Church) and he deserved it for a decent display. He should have scored when he was one on one with their keeper, but, other than that, it was a better showing than the previous ****e he has served up. It was odd seeing Dyer and Matthew. They sat on their seats like naughty schoolchildren and didn't move all night. A strange night at The Valley, but not the morbid experience I was expecting.
Agree with Ponders and not just about getting home being easy. Reza might be good in the centre as a striker for Iran but on the right mid against huddersfield he was bullied. As was Wilson who had a torrid time with their number 7 throughout. That said Reza kept on getting up from being flattened and kept on trying so no lack of effort or commitment. I guess the first teamsheet that Riga will produce will be for Millwall with this one having significant input from Dyer and Matthew.
Nonsense, Mike. You are still hungering for CP, and I respect that, but the Millwall offering was far worse than anything seen tonight.
If we had shown the fight of the first half on Sunday, Powell would still be in a job and we would be off to Wembly and have some money in the bank!
Sordell is there to score he missed 2 one on ones and get praised for his effect very odd church can play the non scoring striker too yet gets abuse very odd . How was that not 2 points dropped Huddersfield are all ready on their summer holidays. As I said started well as would of happened if I'd been in charge...new manager effect. ... But it's meant to last more than 45 mins. We have games coming up against teams who have something to play for Jackson Poyet excellent but that second half oh dear
I think it was more guilty effort in the first half. The players knew they let the fans, Chris Powell, themselves and the club down on Sunday.
We looked better at the back with Dervite as opposed to Wood. In fact we were fairly solid; that's the Riga Mortis setting in.
I resigned myself to relegation a while ago, and was quite relieved by what I saw last night. We created several excellent chances in the first half and I think we can cause an upset on Saturday, which would give renewed hope. In the second half I just thought Jackson and particularly Astrid were running out of gas, yet we still should have won it. SVC-- I thought Wilson had a good game against Scannell, who is always a handful, but was subbed.
In his 1 on 1, Sordell took a tough ball down and got a shot on target. Church, with his 1 on 1, slowed it down and ran away from the goal. Not a Sordell fan but he was streets ahead of the recent Church performances. Reza was very poor last night.
Sordell had 2 one on ones the first one he was put through by Harriott perfect ball he shot it wide wether you think he looked better than church result the same. Also don't forget this was the first match under a new boss when teams always up their game for the new bloke. They did first half second half dross that's the facts but it's a point grateful for that. But all this oh it was so much better rubbish the QPR performance was way better .
I've gotta say I was impressed with our attacking last night but I wasn't impressed with sordell at all, Reza looked more likely to score then Marvin. The shape looked good but trailed off towards the end, also did cousins come on and play LM or was it just me? Very odd choice. Does very much feel though its 2 points dropped then a point earned, I didn't feel hudders were really likely to score.
More like 10,000. Quite a few of the "Bovril n'Blankets" brigade stayed away in protest at the dismissal of their pin up boy. I joined in the applause but then moved on. It will clearly take others longer. I was reflecting last night on the malodorous double standards of the fans who hawked all over Parky for playing **** football on no resources....yet got through six boxes of Kleenex a week when Sir Chris delivered **** football on no resources. Surely shome mishtake...
No, we would still have had 27 points and been bottom of the league. Sunday was just the cherry on the cake in highlighting CPs deficiencies, and those of the team.
I will be very happy if he leads us to victory at Millwall on the flipside if he doesn't and we get a hideing do you think his time is up and maybe we should say goodbye to Jose
I'm also surprised the Powell out happy chappys Wern't up in arms when the not very special one took off Reza and brought on Pritchard with half hr to go they are the same blokes who would of slaughtered Powell for such a substitution. I have two such people who sit behind me eulogising about the wonderful football we were playing and great use of substitutions... Complete and utter bollocks !
