it seems that Alex Song's time at Barcelona is up and he is heading back to the EPL. would you want to see him back, would you care if he went to Manure ? should we have him back and put him in squad and then rotate Arteta, Flamini, and Song.
I don't get the hate for Arteta, he was our best player against Everton, and was pretty solid last night, he's only been poor in games in which he's been rushed back from injury. Regarding Song, he can **** off. What is the point of a DM that can't actually defend? I'd take either Bender over him.
Agree with Kyle, I'd much rather have Lars Bender in there. Song was never really a DM for us though, more of a CM. He did actually do a lot of defensive work, but was too often found drifting forward and leaving our back four exposed.
Oil oxocube cazorla and giroud where all better than Arteta for me, though he put in a good performance.
True! I just don't really like Arteta in our team he just seems to be holding that position for someone better
Wouldn't mind having Song back as a CB, as for a DMF, don't really think he's going to be better than either Flamini or Arteta, we need someone who will be super quality and better than those 2 in that role, and it's not Song.
He was in a team with Fabregas, Nasri and Van Persie and still couldn't help us win a trophy. How would he help us now?
To be fair, you just said it, he was a world class player in a team with other players not to his level of quality, so it made it hard for him to help us win a trophy, and that's why he went to Barca now he stands shoulder to shoulder with players of equal calibre and quality.
Are you saying Song is a world class player? Fabs and RVP hands down are world class. Even if Song came back, where would he play? He won't be able to displace either Ramsey or Ozil centrally and he isn't a better DM than Flamini, who is more disciplined and smarter than Song at the back. I much prefer we get a proper top quality DM that will be beastly at covering our defenders.
Ewwww no. Decent player but let down by a lack of discipline. The biggest step forward this season for me has been the organisation of our back 4 and the two midfielders in front of them. I don't want to go back to the days of that horrible gaping gap between our midfield and defence.
Spot on. He is a good player but he too frequently drifts forward leaving gaps at the back. Flamini is so much more smarter and reads the game better than Song.
I would take him back. He was always underrated. Plus in our current system he would do better. In the old 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 Song was our sole holding player (but he's not defensive enough for that job). In our current system we have two players who can sit back and take turns getting forward. Song is still only 27 (coming into his peak). He's powerful athletic and has a good range of passing.
