Vikings sign Linval Joseph from NY Giants http://vikingsterritory.com/2014/fr...gency-minnesota-vikings-sign-nt-linval-joseph
Probably the best FA, Jairus Byrd, has joined the Saints. Fascinating move because Byrd/Vaccaro could arguably be the best safety tandem in the league (well, in a year or two) but Saints have next to no cap space right now.
Glad Vikes signed a DT, and the options seemingly were between Joseph and Soliai, Soliai's contract is bigger than Joseph's and he is 5 years older so think Vikings made the right choice in that regard. Giants fans seem gutted about losing Joseph aswell which is usually a good sign. Now if the Vikings can go and get Verner and Rey then this would be a pretty perfect FA. As for Griffen, think the contract is high, but this guy genuinely has everything to be a dominant end. Should've been starting ahead of Allen last year based on his performances imo. The big question is can he do it when he is a starter rather than just coming in for a couple of downs a game. So the Vikings paid for potential rather than proven ability, and with the amount that Bennett and it looks like Johnson are going to be paid they obviously thought it was better to spend less and hope Griffen can produce.
Chiefs have lost quite a few big players and brought in..... No one. Guess we are hinging on the draft. Wonder if we will trade down to get a second round pick as we don't have one with last seasons Smith trade with 49ers.
Vikings have signed an LB, Jasper Brinkley. From the photos it looks like he was signed from the Arizona Cardinals, after having played for the Vikings between 2009 and 2012.
Wow, incredibly interesting FA so far. Most of the time you see the teams at the lower end of the spectrum scrabbling for the big free agents and over paying for the most part, but Byrd to the Saints, Revis to the Pats and Ware and Talib to the Broncos are all huge moves for some of the main contenders (I also think if Hatcher goes to the Seahawks that'll be a fairly under the radar but strong move). Awesome stuff. This is the time of year where i get really amped for the new season and then realise it's six months away...
By the draft, it's only 3 months till the NFL season starts. At least there's the world cup to look forward in between the draft and the start of the NLF season, and the preparation's for Pompey's first season in the Skrill Premier Division.
The months between the end of the season and the draft are worse for me, by the end of the draft it feels like it's actually the new season and you can start crossing off the days on the calendar.
Oh boy, Eagles have traded for the Darren Sproles. Our defense still looks pretty pathetic but should be a nightmare to handle on offense providing Foles doesn't fall off a cliff.
