LFC STILL the only English club to beat Messi and Barca at the Nou Camp in the CL.

    Chelsea?

I agree its **** watching sugar daddy clubs progress and its great when they end up on their arses, but look at the mancs compared to us and think what might have been if we would have modernised at the start of the PL and Moore's greed was less important to him than finding us a worthy owner with honourable intentions instead of H&G.

Next week I'll be hoping they get knocked out too.

I've always said I'd rather sit in midtable for 10years and build our way up than have some money pimp roll up and buy us a title or trophy. I still stand by that.

I feel the same(pride), but imagine if the Glazers sell up to an oil rich Arab and Arsenal end up in the hands of their Russian Oligarch 2nd major shareholder, should we still base our hopes and dreams on money we earn and watch the rest progress?

I think he's talking about the game over two legs, not just tonight.
Demichelis gave away a pen, I think, and got sent off in the first leg, so he wasn't there tonight.
Aguero might as well not have been there either. Did he actually touch the ball while he was on?

I'd rather there were effective rules to prevent this distortion of the game by too much outside money, rather than hope we go down the same route.
In the end, it will always be a small minority of clubs who are owned by the mega-rich (even if we're one of them), and it is just totally unfair on everyone else in the game.

That's what I meant in my reply to two girls saint, but let's be honest, so far suger daddies have targeted Chelsea and even QPR(London)and Man City in England so far and theres no guarantee the won't target clubs in other Cities, I wonder if we'd still have the same view if a rich Arab bought Everton.<yikes>

i think what we are seeing is far more of the spics like Tan and such coming in and I just get the feeling the remaining multibillionaires are headed for other leagues to find an patch to dominate for the assault on europe.

the laws on club ownership are way way too lax and the likes of cardiff as a result are badly run, headed for debt, with owners who bought in for nothing chasing the money... blackburns status today is an insult to everything jack walker did for this beloved club. For shame.

I think city are the only truly unlimited club. they can have emirates ass wipers sponsor them for 500mil a year if they wish and spend anything.

but take that out and even cheslea, artificial though as they are have limits and utd can actually compete with them for example. We could on a limited basis but they have 40 players to turn to when things go wrong we don't.. thats why on the day 11 v 11 levels the field. it has to be on our day not thier day though.

I don't see someone buying into say... west ham for the billions gold and sullivan lust after. sure its london and a big stadium and virtually ready made for splashing cash but i nthe end the other 3 or 4 big teams mean its cut throat and this is why PSG makes things easy.

FFS some arab could buy ajax... dominate that league, buy up all the dutch players i nthe world at forgien clubs pay them 300k per week and go for CL.

    Good points, mito.
I've always thought that the reason Abramovich keeps changing managers even when they do well is that he wants to win everything all the time.
He's become so used to his money buying anything he wants that he can't cope with the fact that it doesn't buy total domination.

Which is why it would be nice if Arsenal win the league - if we don't.

    Me too, but I'm torn.
Until it's mathematically impossible I'll hold on to the hope that we can do it, and so Arsenal falling away would at least take one of our rivals out of the equation.

I would much rather arsenal collapse and play for 4th with utd and spurs. we take 3rd then and thats GOOD.

It goes without saying that we want to win it whether that's being realistic or not. The point about Arsenal winning it if we don't was more to do with principle i.e. not buying it, than whether or not their position as things stand, would or could make it more difficult for us.
