Maybe stuff like this is the problem?

    http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=245551.0

Who knows what refs and their pals on the line hear during the week or at their meetings/get togethers.

Only needs somebody to give us a bad reputation/name and they probably pick up on it more so than if other teams did it (we hear all the time about "typical foreignersand their behaviour")

Suspect somebody like Dickov (I remember he was quite mouthy as a player) would have been in their ears - particularly after the "penalty" which won us at the game the Vic.

We aren't one of those tops sides who have the power to bully officials into decisions like Ferguson and Wenger do.

    Highlights (sort of)

All biased and just a little bit xenophobic from the Donny fans if you ask me, which is a sname as they are a ok little club. Playing against 10 men for over 70 minutes and they squeak a 2-1 win in time added on. They should look at themselves.

I do believe that we seem to have aquired a reputation, although I personally don't why. This veiw was confirmed earlier this season after seeing FF taken out by two opposition players (sorry, cant remember the game, but it was at the Vic) who was then booked for diving.

Im sorry, but I dont see why refs shouldn't be interviewed after the game.

Why is it we always seem to lose when wearing yellow shorts?

I really don't see why that would be a problem.

Could solve so many issues and in fact you'd soon catch out players and managers trying to just use them as an excuse....

If a ref came out and said I felt so and so tried to con me it could teach that player it doesn't work.

It seems strange neither a foul or penalty was given for the Deeney incident - was the ref watching?

On the subject of the two crucial decisions last night. 1. Why was the Donny player in the Ranegie incident not at least cautioned? Both hand on Ranegie's head preventing the player from getting up and deliberately provoking the reaction. I've no complaints about the RC, just the uneven punishment meted out by the referee.
    2. Regarding the Deeney non penalty incident, could the referee not hear his guide dog barking rabidly that it was a foul???? WTF??? Outstanding you cretin!

I have to say that in my opinion there are no ok clubs (big or little) in either Lancashire or Yorkshire. They are all 'xenophobic' especially to clubs south of Birmingham and have more chips on their shoulders than are fried in Blackpool on a Saturday night. Their fans will always whinge about the opposition, the referee, the linesmen, the opposing fans, the floodlights, the pies and just about everything else, whether they win, lose or draw.

The only difference between fans in Lancashire and Yorkshire is that they are much louder in one county than the other.........

It was always a chore going to away games in Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley, Hull, etc. etc.

My sources at the game said that two Watford fans were set upon by about twenty Donny fans and had bricks thrown through the window of their car. What a difference to the ones who set up a helpful thread on here for those travelling to the ground.

How many is that we have had sent off this year...4/5 players. These foreign johnnies appear to not have a clue about the english game. Any kind of stamping, kicking, headbutting, studs up, simulating, hitting, to list but a few and you ARE going to get sent off. I really feel for Troy Deeney and a couple of the other british players because the foreigners are really letting us and the side down. Is it the "Pardew effect" of heat of the moment thing or is Renagie just burdened by having a huge ego!

Slightly ironic to accuse other clubs' fans of whingeing about referees. The Hornets' Nest is a wonderful place but criticism of referees is habitual among most of its frequenters, not to mention criticism of other fans. We're no different from other small clubs in being paranoid about big decisions not going our way.

P.s. as a Yorkshireman I find the inhabitants of all other counties a mixed bunch - good and bad - not unlike my fellow Yorkshiremen in fact. Xenophobia is not unknown, rather like in Hertfordshire.

Totally disagree.... Yorkshire people are such a friendly bunch..... there are more divides Lancs-Yorks...and a much higher ethnic mix up here than in rural Herts.

Some of my best games are : Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley, Hull, etc. etc (Well they would be ;) )

That is awful.... not heard of this in years. Mind you I don't know if there were any wind ups in the ground and they copped it... still not acceptable in any way though.... .

I know I get the "northern slums" song at most WFC game oop north <doh>

    Just watched highlights on YouTube.

    • Rangie deserved to go but Donny player should have been booked.
    • Deeney was fouled and Donny player should have walked (listen to the reaction of the commentator).
    • Our goal was superb.

Only question is, should Bond have done better to hold the shot at the end or is that being a bit too harsh?

I think may be a little harsh.......

I agree the Donny player should have gone

maybe a 30% chance but it was a very fast short range shot to the other side of the goal

I agree we tend to be as biased as most fans regarding referees but the Watford Observer is not known for being overly critical of refs - yet this is their comment:

Thanks to that our season is over.

WORST non-pen decision I've ever seen.

Were the players really as bad as the people mention in the Donny thread? Who was at the game last night?

TBF It was a decent finish by Sharp - is a goal poacher and before Bond had saved us a few times.

I was there and no they werent that bad. Its just a few fans who were probably there for 1 Direction and felt disappointed. The best example of their blatant cheating is when Husband went down clutching his head after a late challenge caught his legs!

I am of the opinion that the officials should either be made to publicly speak after matches or at the very least their reports should be published so that we can see what the hell goes through their minds (or doesnt) when they make a decision or fail to. They should be accountable for their mistakes like any other person. But the powers that be seem to want to protect them.

I obviously wasn't there, but from what little I saw of the 'highlights', the worst for me was Husband's reaction after Ranegie kicked him. Given that he had placed both hands on top of Ranegie's head and pushed to hold him down, he was obviously playing for the sort of reaction that followed. Strange how those Donny fans missed that...
