Good, he's always been a great striker for us.

He was so unlucky last season - if he had been fit all season, we possibly could've won the Championship. Fryatt would've certainly got at least 15 goals.

I was so glad we didn't get rid of him in January, it appears it was definitely the right decision.

Has be a shoe in for a new contract. We will need players like Matty Fryatt next season if we are to attack 3 cup competitions on top of the PL.

Hate to disagree but that article doesn't say anything at all.

SB says he will sit down with him and talk. No news there. He says he is playing well, so no news there. He is bigging him up in advance of our FA cup run so good news there.

I can't see him getting a deal, or if he does it will be on hold until we see what else we can get before it is decided.

Nowhere near a shoe in, but TWT Tickles

I missed it when SB last said he'd be offering fryatt a new contract.

Edit: actually, I didn't. You are correct Mr. Shoes.

To be honest, fryatt frustrated me for most of last year, but his performances have been top drawer when needed and he's a great third choice to have. Not starting quality but a good player to fill in and do the job.

He was seriously injured and only played the four games.

He's not Premier League quality, but he's a good player for Cup competitions and in the event we got relegated we'd need a player like Matty.

If we stay up - I think Bruce will focus on our defence and midfield interns of new recruits. I'd say he'd be happy with Jelavic Long Aluko Fryatt and Sagbo as his 5 strikers. Therefore Fryatt should get a deal - a left back a centr back and a couple of midfielders should do the trick - with a few existing players being moved on

Fryatt isn't Premier league quality and we shouldn't be holding on to anyone who can't compete at this level.
All respect to him for his service to the club, but we need to replace him with another striker who can put pressure on Jelly and Long.

I've not been a fan of Matty in the past but his performances this year have impressed me. His work rate and enthusiasm have been outstanding and he has looked a lot sharper around goal. If a Championship club comes in with a seven figure offer for him and we can bring in a third Jelavic/Long type Prem quality striker in the off season I'd let him go. Otherwise keep him around.

This. But I doubt we'd get that for him. I'd keep him. He goes through patches. For months he'll play with his head down and look ****, then he'll have a spell where he looks really up for it and does a lot better as a result. Confidence and determination are a huge part of his game. This season he's clearly looked determined to make the most of the chance SB has given him to prove himself whenever he's played and it's really helped him. He's a ballache for defenders the way he holds onto it and takes those nimble touches in and around a load of bodies. O'Shea had to foul him right on the byline at the weekend and gave away the free kick that led to Davies' goal.

I think he's perfectly capable of being a bench player for us and capable of playing in the PL. He's already demonstrated he can play and score and importantly not look out of place in this league.

Fryatt has shown he can finish against PL opposition, I'd keep him as the cost to find an equivalent replacement would probably be beyond us this season. Whether Fryatt would accept an offer is a different proposition.

Better back-up than Aaron Mclean anyway. We ought to go get Jozy Altidore back, theres still a player in there, I think he's suffered from player cliques at Sunderland and Poyet doesn't rate him.

I've been led to believe by my Sunderland supporting mate that Jozy is not popular with their lads so thats contributed to his **** season, hes a big unit with untapped potential for me, would rather have him than Fryatt as back up.

Also his scoring stats in Holland are comparable with others who have stepped up in the Prem and other top leagues. Just a thought. I don't think he is **** personally but who knows

Just because someone isn't popular doesn't mean they can't play well ffs.

I would rather have someone who is scoring goals. It ain't Jozy.

There's definitely a player locked away somewhere within altidore. Problem is he just seems to keep getting worse. I remember him being fast and strong with good ball skills but just fell apart in front of goal, now he just seems like a donkey wearing clown shoes on the wrong feet.
