For those of you that want Pardew out why not turn up at Fulham wearing an Alan Pardew mask, run onto the pitch and stick the nut on Damien Duff.

that's a brilliant idea there Jim
everyone gets a Pardew mask and the authorities will not know if the real one is there

unless of course they kick out all the fans <whistle>

I've come full circle and now infact want him to stay.

We don't always play the prettiest football but on the whole we get results with him. My biggest gripe is that we either win 6 on the bounce or lose 6 on the bounce. I'm either deliriously happy for a month or don't leave my house for a month <laugh>

I wonder if some sneaky bastard from the FA will turn up in a Meyler mask to flush Pardew out if he sneaks into technical area wearing a John Carver mask.

    It could happen....<laugh>

What's his win percentage? I'm going to hazard a guess it's not over 50%. You, sir, are a liar and dare I say a cad.

    Won 59, lost 57, drawn 36.

39% win percentage but has won more than he's lost.

Statistics, eh? Well my gripe is that your stat includes the "performances" against Liverpool, Sunderland, Wigan, Reading, Brighton, etc. The losses have been spectacularly bad with shiny great big bells on, even if we've allegedly had less of them to moan about.

And our situation would be measurably improved by appointing . . . ?

Rank performances. However I look at the overall picture, and the background against which it has been achieved. We are not a club that can spend top 8 money on transfers or pay for top 8 wages in abundance. We've had some terrific performances and results in that time against the likes of Man U and Chelsea. We've also experienced an excellent cup run in Europe doing really well against some very good sides.

We look like again getting a top 8 finish against all odds this season. If you look at the 3 and a half years, its been quite successful overall. We had a shocker of a season in the league last sandwiched between two seasons which have exceeded expectations.

If he can just sort the derbies out, keep the young players coming through and keep us progressing I'd be quite happy. We need to be more accepting of the odd hammering. We do play fairly attacking football and that can happen. Indeed it can happen to any side. I watched Arsenal concede 4 goals in 18mins against Liverpool recently.

I think he hasn't got the credit he deserves for restoring a fragile squads confidence this season after last, and getting them back to playing football properly. Particularly after a hammering on the first day.

    Woah there.

Remind me which very good teams we faced in Europe? And which young players have really come through under ol' Pards?

To be fair it's not all bad. There's a fair amount of good as you say. I just think Pards has lost all his lives with the derby shortly followed by the spurs debacle. It's two years in a row so not enough of an anomaly for me. And too often the good results seem the result of opposition profligacy than our own strength. Not every time but enough for me to personally feel Pards should be replaced.

As a Pards lover two things, who would you replace him with and in the premier league how many managers in the last 4 years have had and benefited from their youth development rather than buy players.

    Couldn't agree more.

What makes me smile is who does everyone think this new manager is that's going to magically improve us by 4 or 5 league places on a consistent basis?

I think Pardew is doing a great job, taking everything into consideration.

Benfica are a very good side. Fair enough Anji, Metalist and Bordeaux are just decent sides. Nonetheless, many clubs of a similar standing/resource level to us would have struggled to get to a QF. We have to remember these are not the KK or Robson day where we had money to burn (or at least thought we did) Spurs found it tough enough against Dnipro for 3/4 of their tie. It'll be interesting to see how they get on with all their extra resource against Benfica. If it wasn't for a mad 10mins and Steven Taylor we may well have squeezed through so Pards must have got something right.

It just seems a bit petty to claim our good results have been because of the profligacy of the oppo. The 3-0 at home to Man U was down to good planning and domination. The away one this season was deserved. The results away at Chelsea and at home against Chelsea we were the better side. Yeah you could throw the away one in against Spurs but then you have to look at the ones where you have been unfortunate like Man C at home twice.

I think the point you make is the one which it all stems from. The derbies and heavy shalackings we have taken. The derbies are a problem. As for tankings and excuses made, well I struggle to think of teams who haven't had this. Nevermind those who are mid table sides on bottom half budgets. I think as fans we need to get a bit more realistic and learn how to take the odd beating without jumping off the deepend.

Young players, we haven't produced many which is somewhat outside of Pards control in our structure. He is clearly willing to try though which I like. He plumped for Krul when at a crossroads keeper wise. Tav, Dummett, Bigi, Sammy, Vuckic, Campbell, Fergie, Abeid, Haidara, Good have all had opportunities. More than I can remember since Ardiles pushed that batch through before KK arrived. Not many have proved good enough but at least he is willing to give them a go. We are giving opportunity and investing in the youth infrastructure, eventually that will help us.
