The initial reaction from fans will certainly be "great, we want to be more informed" but Cortese chose to keep his business quiet for business reasons. Time will tell whether that approach had its benefits or not.
There was more that Cortese kept quiet than business stuff. There's a lot of room for more open communication without being too open.
Most importantly of all, Krueger says Pochettino contract talks are "evolving naturally" as he gets used to new structure.
Yes, and if you remember, a player could have a leg amputated before Nigel would confirm that he probably might miss the next game. I think it all sounds fine to me.
Kreuger comes over well in the video on OS. I like the emotional link that Katharina now has with the club...I certainly don't want Saints to go on the market. Although I like all the positive things we used to say and the high targets we aimed for, he makes sense when he says he prefers not to set targets. Although some may not like it, he says success on the pitch isn't everything...it is the club as a whole that matters. He also talks far more about the fans too. May all be just management guff, but sounded promising to me.
I asked some Hockey people what they thought of him "He's a very intelligent man, and a great motivator. He may have had some warts as an NHL head coach, but I think the Oilers were stoopid to tank him after only one season. He was responsible for taking the Swiss national hockey program from a kick-around ensemble, to a hard to play against, giant killer. I think he'll be good for your organization, even though I'm not sure what the role of chairman involves."
Just catching up, seems good to me, nothing to get too excited or worried about yet. Having Rogers and Reed there reassures me that there will be good continuity and roots aren't about to get rapidly pulled. Also I am trying to think if there are any more powerful women than Katherina in football right now. Someone tell me. Just a semi-interesting side plot.
Little skeptical about him being made chairman, but I'm willing to wait and see what duties actually go along with the title. I think that Krueger is at a minimum, a hard-working and somewhat intelligent person, which should at least keep the drama to a minimum. He might not be good, but he won't be a disaster and if he can't get the job done there's a good chance he'll just resign when asked.
I like the way he pronounces Katharina Leihberr in the German manner...sounds nicer than the English way.
Very impressive opening interview by new chairman. If you cut through the inevitable management speak then what he is saying is something to be optimistic about. I loved the insight into his talks with our owner KL and the emotional attachment she has for Saints. The reference to her father in asking if this is the way he would do things. It was good to hear about his time spent talking with Poch when travelling by car to the England game. He believes Poch is a leader who inspires those around him. Hopefully they will work well together and carry on all the good work done so far. A new contract would be a welcome statement of intent .
Spoke briefly to an Oilers fan. Said Krueger was known for being extremely thorough and detailed, and has a background in scouting, which can only help..?
Something that seems alway to be missed about Clive Woodward is that he grew up loving football and wanted to be a professional. He was moved to a school in Wales and was forced (completely against his will) to play rugby. If I recall he was punished when he was found to be playing football outside school. Given his general sporting ability and drive, he'd probably have ended up a professional. So when people imply that he knew/knows nothing about football it isn't really fair. Vin
Well, he may have jumped before he was pushed. Either way, his refusal to compromise his autocratic style was apparently the reason for his departure.
ooh I can just see Brady cowering behind the shelf of porno mags on the Board room at Upton Park next season . . Bing has a point though.
