http://www.onfieldsofgreen.com/is-mccann-really-the-man/? This utter fannybaws is the archetype for a certain section of our support. Disparaging the "Bhoys Against Bigotry" campaign on the grounds that he couldn't smoke, drink or shout sectarian bile inside Parkhead any more.
Aye, he should have just handed over £40m out of his unbridled love for Celtic. These ****s don't live in reality.
He actually uses the phrase "speculate to accumulate" in the article. That worked so well for the banks...
From what I remember McCann stated exactly what his intentions were for the five year plan. That included him making money. If I were a Celtic fan I'd be eternally grateful because it was extremely grim for the club in 1993.
Exactly he said exactly what he planned to do. And did it He didnt say what he thought the fans wanted to hear to rip them off. He made the club significantly better run than before he left The money he made was not the clubs money either. It was his.
Aye, saw that and thought "There's Venom". That article is absolute ****ing ****e. Thankfully, most commenting seem to think so too.
To be fair a lot of fans grumbled at Fergus over Jock Brown, loss of star players, not selling...trading, treatment of Tommy Burns....or was it just me
To be fair there is a massive amount of revisionism going on now. At the time I thought mccann was a ****. I still think he is a bit of a **** though I have mellowed. In those pre Internet days it was easy to believe the pish in the record every day. I was ****ed off that we had just lost our league winning manager. With minty spouting his fivers and tenners pish it was easy to believe the next league title was another ten years away. Then there was jock ****ing brown. He did a podcast on celtic underground. To listen you would think he was the best thing that ever happened to celtic
I'm told he sounded 'likeable' :-/ Even Peter Lawwell looks magnificent compared to the fall of Rangers...you almost forget we cheaped out on 3 league titles
Yeah but the articles not focussing on that ...more how dare McCann get praise fir pulling Celtic out the grubber whilst making money... McCann did what he said he would...no hidden agendas...
Exactly what I thought, last thing on my mind would be giving money away to anyone, far less a succesful business with a multi millionaire owner.
