Of course, he should be. 18 goals this season, and has done more than enough to earn his place in our SQUAD. Problem is that he should not be our first choice CF if we want to be a top team.

I voted yes for obvious reasons stated above, but I think we all know we need another striker and can't rely on Giroud for the entire season and against the very top sides.

12 league goals...50 per cent of Suarez total.

    Loïc Remy Newcastle United 13
    Yaya Touré Manchester City 13
    Olivier Giroud Arsenal 12
    Jay Rodriguez Southampton 11

What exactly is your point? Are you honestly trying to claim that Giroud is not even good enough to be part of our squad?

I would agree that he is fairly effective against lesser defences , but against well structured defences he is impotent.

I am saying he is average , if we are talking about moving forward , we need more than average.

What you expect us to have world class players in every position and the bench as well? Look around the teams in Europe and nobody has that. Giroud is a French international who banged in 18 goals for us this season. We would be lucky to have a player like that as part of our squad for next season. Problem is I can't see him just wanting to be a squad player, so if we do sign a new CF, then Giroud would probably consider his future at Arsenal. We should spend serious money on one quality CF and keep Giroud as back up. That was clearly Wenger's plan last summer but failed to land Higuain or Suarez.

Also, I do not want us to sell Giroud and then have to spend more money buying two CF's, when we need that money to buy a new CDM,CB, maybe a winger and also a RB (Sagna is gone).

  12. You may as well compared him to Henry, Messi, Ronaldo (the real one), etc since they are all in a different league to Giroud too.

Giroud is a good player that has got a lot of goals for you guys. He did the same last year. What happened in both seasons was he burnt out, he had no support and was expected to do it alone. He simply needs help and you guys need more options for that front role.

That second paragraph in particular hits the nail on the head.

Voted Yes. But as most have stated, he is a SQUAD player and should never have been our first choice CF all season. We need a player with better quality here at Arsenal, if we intend to win the biggest honours. Giroud is good against the lesser sides but when you are playing top opposition when you need players to do something special, then he won't provide you with that. Good but simply not first choice top 4 material.

Are you trying to claim that the only way to improve on Giroud would be with a world class player, and therefore implying that Giroud is just one notch down from world class?

Can't work out if you're being serious. Are you implying our squad is as good as anyone's in Europe?

'Banged in'? Nice use of fruity language to try and make it sound like he's been a threat for us. He's played 48 games of football this season and failed to score in 31 of them.

Get real... we're a bigger football club than Giroud is football player. As someone else pointed out, Jay Rodriguez has a similar scoring rate with worse players around him. Would we be 'lucky' to have Jay Rodriguez as part of our squad too?

    He can do one then.

Completely contradictory to your point above

You've included girouds international appearances which have no baring on how good he is for us. For us he has a goal per 2 games.

He's scored in 16 out of 41 games for us. Good maths.

Actually, my opinion of Giroud has completely changed stats-wise.

Higuiain has only scored in 16 out of 38 games.

Lewandowski has only scored in 14 out of 33 games.

Suarez has only scored in 13 games out of 29 games.

Giroud's is still the worst return of the lot but not as much as I would have thought. It must just be that I don't like thim then

He's appeared in 41 competitive games for us this season. He's scored in 16 of them. It's not difficult.

And give over with the LOLs and ROFLs you've started to put in all your posts, it makes your posts childlike.
