Wellens gets a yellow. Faraoni gets one just for good measure. Free kick to Watford. Headed over. FULL TIME: 2-1
To be fair you cannot say what might have happened if the ref had given us a penalty and sent their keeper off, but he really did have a stinker which could make a huge difference to the final games this season. We did not get what we deserved which was a minimum of a point. How that will pan out on the attendances, the effort from the players and the moral of the staff remains to be seen, but the officials really should be better than this.
I disagree - you cannot be certain what would have happened, but I would say I could be at least 90% sure of going into the break at 1-1, and that the second half would have been more even ie they wouldn't have swamped us in the final 10 minutes or so. I'd go as far as to say that we would have won the game had their keeper been rightfully sent off. The referee was, as many others have been, an absolute disgrace and it's high time something was done about it - the FA simply shouldn't be allowed to bury their heads in the sand any longer.
Doesn't sound like our night. A decent enough performance by all accounts but a couple of important moments went against us as such. Not that you can excuse Ranegie.
Quite agree, but nothing will be done. I've been banging on for several seasons now about the quality of refereeing in the Championship. It is poor. And the fact that there is never any explanation for any of the bizarre decisions made during a game is appalling. I think that all of the 400+ supporters who made the trip yesterday deserve some kind of explanantion when a decision is so bad as the one last night seems to be. Dream on though, they appear to be accountable to no-one.
Exactly, BB! They must look long and hard at their officials. They keep making the same mistakes week in week out and never learn. I would love to read his report and see how he explains not awarding the penalty. I would also like to know why the hell he didnt book a Rovers player until the 70th minute! Yet he booked Gabi for his first foul in the 20th. He was clearly favouring Doncaster for the entire match. He should not officiate another match!
