I fail to see how we can want Smith, Routledge, Best and Ranger to piss off yet leave James Perch on the pay roll. It makes little sense in my eyes as you could at least have before mentioned players atleast as cover especially Best who should NOT be going. Perch HAS to go. That is all.

No defensive cover, probably one of the lowest wages in the team

I think it goes without saying Perch will be sold. I'd play Simpson, Gosling, Raylor, Saylor, Colo ahead of him at RB. Perch will be off.

We also have very little cover for Tiote, and few strikers. Yet we're telling Smith and Best to leave who are far better players than Perch. It still makes no sense

Guthrie and Gosling as defensive midfielders? Can someone lend this guy a bike?

Gosling is definitely a defensive midfielder? And Guthrie isn't bad for 2nd/3rd cover...

Guthrie has covered Tiote pretty well most of the time this season, and Gosling could do it as well. We also have too many midfielders now so Cabaye and Barton might start together in CM if Tiote was out.

Gosling is a versatile squad player who is naturally a box-to-box midfielder but can play RB/RM if needed.
Guthrie is back-up/squad player for now, that's how I see it anyways.

Gosling is better at RM, and I've never rated Guthries work rate, he seems to get two touches a match and they're pretty useless. He's a English Lucas.

I'd rather have a real defensive midfielder for cover than some makeshift midfield of added players. Especially as our defence seems to rely on the defensive midfielder dropping back and helping out, I don't trust Guthrie to do that and not Gosling yet. That's all.

Gosling has no pace and his final ball isn't brilliant so how on earth you class him as a rm?! Also an English Lucas you call Guthrie....i'd love that Lucas is a class player

That's not so bad you know, not supporting the bindippers or anything but Lucas has dramatically improved this past season, looks a totally different player, that's why they(lfc) gave him a new contract ,but I get your point about Guthrie, a tad harsh though, I think he's a decent back-up CM to have. <ok>

I class him as a RM because he played RM at Everton right..? I'm saying get rid of Perch here not Gosling remember..or have you all lost the point of the thread as usual? <doh>

I mean't Benitez' Lucas. I want Guthrie to stay as CM cover, not as CDM cover however. What if Tiote gets a big injury? We'd be stuck with Guthrie and/or Gosling all season..scary stuff.

Because Everton play a different style of football compared to us, they don't have attacking wingers they usually play with a narrow midfield of 4 and let Baines and Coleman overlap. Lost the point....you mentioned we needed cover for Tiote and we're discussing Gosling is cover

I think we should keep Perch.

He can cover practically anywhere, and he is on next to nothing wages

Gosling's prefered position is DM/CM, it's just at Everton there was Rodwell, Arteta, Felliaini all ahead of him for the CM positions. Hence why he got played RM.

Without Perch, we only have 5 senior defenders. I think Pardew wants to buy a few defenders before telling Perch to jog on
