very strange story about wes brown( and was not fit) been on the bench last Saturday "to sample the atmosphere" says Di canio !, well he could have sat in the stand behind the dug out. What is it with Wes he could have been brilliant for us but for injuries.
Hope he is on a pay per play deal. I believe that if his latest injury is true then it's goodbye for me. On the basis of minutes played per thousand spent and considering his age (and therefore his ongoing potential playing window) it doesn't make sense. This is in stark comparison with Catts who probably is similar in the first two terms but his age is massively in his favour. Regardless PdC is the boss and he's best placed to make the call to fit his strategy! Ktf
Same here. Don`t know long is left but I`m wondering whether it might be time to buy out his remaining contract. Get him off the wage bill. Shame but I honestly can`t see him contributing much now.
agree with this, the lad is made of glass and should consider calling it day now..if he doesn't then the club should do it for him
Class player but we've not seen enough and the time to close the lid on the Wes Brown saga has surely come. Waste of a squad number now which is a shame for such a top player. Retire Wes. You're finished.
Retain and re-negotiate on a pay as play contract/defensive coach contract. Wes us to much of a great defensive football mind and a professional to let go could be such an influence on Diateke, Roberg et al. positive role model and a older understanding of how a defense needs to be in the EPL which the younger/newer players need.
Think Wes has a better football brain than JOS, and if we're going to have to pay him either as a pay off or his wages might as well get something back!
yeah we have got so many experts on here ,like the wonders who said hull will free fall ,no they addressed the problem they bought goals in who they signed ,and us scocco ..................phew thats us safe then
To be fair, a lot of us were losing patience, just like we were with David Meyler, just like we were with Fraser Campbell and just like we were with Craig Gordon. All of them including Wes have cost the club millions upon millions in wages and treatment and the club has received very little in return. it's a fans right to question it, unless this is some kind of immature competition then genuine concerns regarding these sorts of players are completely valid imo. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I love Wes but he's still a long way from representing value. Oh he's injured btw
Honestly can't believe I'm reading this ****e from some very fickle supporters. Yes he's injury prone, but he's by far our best defender, we always play better with Brown in the side, check the stats.
both meyler and cambell were fit and sold after injuries both imo better than some we have now and have always lamented the departures , brown was ill at the weekend i think you will find and as far as long term injuries are concerned the wages of all players have insurance to cover this (ok) If as suggested brown was ejected by safc ,that would have cost a lot more plus the millions as you say because we would already been down without him imo
i think your figures in your point are a long ,long , way out (millions) ,gordon has retired through his injury and was covered by insurance all the way through ,the three mentioned were treated and cared for by employees of the club with the vast majority covered also by insurance if surgery was needed,if some fans dont grasp the workings of a prem club in full there lies the problem ,even mutual consent deals are covered for club and player with stipulations about that players future who leaves in this manner ,gordon is an example as is owen hargreaves.
Say Gordon earned 20k a week with us (I think he'd have been on a bit more). That's 4.1 million in wages over his four year contract, plus his 9m transfer fee. Are you suggesting insurance paid out over 13 million pounds sterling for Craig Gordon? Give your head a shake mate. Insurance doesn't cover everything, you're on a different planet if you think we got anywhere near 13 million from the claim, we'll be lucky if we got 7 million.
