Oi you! I want to know your views on the whole "if you don't believe in Jesus your going to hell" stuff!

 

What do you think this is, Christian Question Time? Can I ask why you want to know from me?

 

How more disgusting is that human history has and continues to have examples of all of the above whilst we have people like you who demand that God does not exist and that faith is somehow an evil thing.

So I could have presented in a different way - at least I had the honesty to admit that I knew it was wrong! That does not mean that I do not (to a degree at least) know what the formulae represents. It would appear from your comment that I know more about science than you do about The Bible.

And the only reason I Asked you was because you seemed to suggested some other poster(s) didn't understand the quote and so I wondered what your interpretation was.

It's like asking a ****ing magician "how do you saw a woman in half without killing her?". You get no answer. For the real answer would be "their blind gullible nature, our smoke and mirrors".

WTF does that even mean? I don't demand it, it simply appears to be the case. There is no evidence for any kind of a god. Furthermore there is no evidence for any of the claims of specific religions that claim to have knowledge of a god.

Along similar lines, if something is a good thing there are better reasons to do it than faith. But if something is a bad thing faith will always support you no matter how wrong and evil you are.

 

The other quote was truncated to fit the view of the poster. To oversimplify that particular quote - Jesus appeared in form of flames and said that if a person didn't believe the gospel, his punishment was banishment from being with God. To extend that thought, hell is best understood as the condition of total alienation from all that is good, hopeful and loving in the world. Hell fire - I don't know about the fire bit.

 

I'd like you to squirm out of "the virgin birth" now. I'm sure you'd know of a way to reinterpret "virgin". Please indulge us.

 

More arrogance from the Christian worldview. Nothing good, hopeful or loving can exist without blind alliegence to the Fuhrer of Nazareth.

 

This particularly irks me. If I do not come to the decision before I die (which could happen at any moment) that Jesus died for my sins and god exists and Christianity was right, then I get no eternal happiness regardless of any decisions in my life. But the guy who accepts Jesus into his heart but murdered and raped his way through life gets eternal bliss.

If that was how a god was judging us he's a right ****.

 

I think you'll find that I have pretty much answered every genuine question put to me regarding my faith and/or personal views on scientific theories.

As far as you are concerned, I had the measure of you several threads ago so don't expect any answers to any questions you put to me

 

So, basically you're saying that heaven & hell are just artifacts of a dying conscience? So, it's all in the mind or 'soul' innit?

 

That was the idea behind my original Hitler comment. Hitler was a Christian and goes to heaven while the Jews/atheists/homosexuals he slaughtered are in big trouble with God.

 

You couldn't be any more wrong.

The murderer has turned his back on what is good and loving in the world. He's already chosen, it wasn't consigned to him.

 

But the murderer just has to ask for forgiveness and believe surely?

 

And what does that mean for the guy who dedicates his life to others but doesn't believe in god?

 

Anyone can say they are a Christian, it's just a word. You get your comeuppance, if that's how you look at it, by how you live your life not what label you live under.

 

I know people who have done some pretty horrible things but I can assure you they are as Christian as anyone else.

What gets me more is the guy who hands down does not believe in god but lives his life as a gentle, loving person doing what they can to help everyone else etc... Despite all his decisions being for the good of others he has chosen not to believe in god so he goes to hell, or doesn't get eternal happiness or whatever.

I can't get my head around that at all.
