Barcelona paid £33 million to his agent (his dad) to ensure he joined Barcelona. A load for signing on, massive wages etc etc. His club Santos got £14 million. Disgusting the way this has been hidden until now. Wonder if any other of the big clugs are now sh!tting themselves in case they get 'caught' in any other dodgy deals.

I thought any 3rd party ownership was banned by Fifa after the Tevez/Mascherano/Joorabchian farce. Obviously it's untouchable Barca though, Fifa and UEFA's little lap dog, I'm confident that this issue will just 'Go away' once Blatter gets his cheque in the post.

There has to be more transparency for these deals. I heard it will cost barca something like 150 million when all is said and done. There needs to be clear cut rules for situations like this that apply to all leagues. Remember the carry on when tevez went to west ham? Fifa need to set down some universal rules to stop this happening

Daft money, paid by daft clubs, but it's business.

These clubs, even if dodgy are playing at the top end, something a club like SAFC need not worry about.

Bleat about football, it's been going down the pot for years....300k a week for some **** at man u ffs....

Man U, Chelsea and Sky, have brought the destruction of football in the end....

I'm not suggesting Rooney's football is worth £15m per season but on the grand scale of things it's an investment into his brand worth making for United commercially.

Rooney is one of Nike's biggest assets, they're about to announce a £600m sponsorship/kit deal with United. When you're in any other country and you say you're from Manchester, the first thing that comes out of the taxi drivers (for example) mouth is "Rooney", it used to be "Ronaldo" or "Beckham" or "Ooh ah Cantona", it's a brand people associate with Manchester.

United have just sold 2.5% of the club for £90m that values the club at £3.6Bn which is more than it has ever been worth, so Rooney's deal is a drop in the ocean for us and we get to grow the brand. In footballing terms of course RVP deserves more than Rooney or at least parity, but with branding, he's a million miles behind and that's why I see RVP leaving this summer.

If this was us, or Middlesbrough, or one of th less fashionable spanish sides, they'd be hauled over the coals (even if it was for only 5 or 6 million to the third party). West Ham and the big clubs over here seem to be able to do what they want though (And I ****ing hate West Ham)
