Perhaps so with regards to the CL money, but even the domestic broadcasting deal means we'll be earning another 30/40 mill on what we got this season. That's money they can budget for and be assured of.

    Thanks Gerrez.

    Strange eh?

TV/Market pool money is the variable component of the UCL money, although it too depends on how far in the competition you go. But it ALSO crucially depends on: the club's nation's tv/market size AND how they ranked in the league the previous season AND how many clubs have qualified to the group stage to share the nation's pool money.

Italy is the biggest market after England apparently. And they had only two teams Juve and AC Milan, of which Juve had the lion's share as they won the scudetto.
English teams would have received much more money had there not been 4 of them and had they went to the quarterfinals.

  8. Seems a bit **** that domestic stuff comes into play for distribution of European money.

If we finish first, second or third can we reduce the English participants to one, two or three respectively please?

the prize pool is about how much a country brings to the table. Ie.. french clubs bring a lot of tv money so they get a bigger slice. germans don't bring so much so they sell for less...

you can see that there is an inequality in the CL itself... but conversely big countries have to pay more wages.

<laugh>, though the best we can do in that regard is to get 3d place this year, and hope Arsenal get shafted in the qualifier. That scenario would mean probably another 10M for us.

is that the scenario when Jose unshaven, upper lip atremble, hat in hand, knocks on Wenger's door, mutely shakes his hand, and disappears from England forever and ever?

  13. I suppose that's as likely as David Moyes winning a league title :bandit:

These numbers should increase further thanks to the BT deal. Crucial to get into the CL this season .

You have to hand it big time to Ayre and FSG - stringing those two huge 50% boosts in revenue (in media 2012-13) and in commercial the year prior. <applause>

in this scenario mourinho claims to all who will listen he was right all along saying 4th was his target and "WE WOZ ROBBED"... right as abramovich sacks him.

however its more likely that russia's oligarch's like abramovich have thier assets forzen and cheslea go to the wall than utd winning a CL.

    No f'n chance!

It's worth taking into account that if we get CL that we'll probably have to pay out quite a bit more in wages and bonuses with the way we've started paying our contracts with performance related clauses. Would have thought qualifying for the CL would get quite a few of the team quite a bit in extra wages.

One quick point - as we've been out of the CL for a few years, I presume we'll be a low seed (I think 3rd)? We're gonna be involved in a Group of Death ...

Let's not forget if we get fourth could easily draw a tough team. Think about Everton that one year, Villareal were good! ( They made the semi's that year right?)
