Or they get to experience a European night watching their own team, how many of them will have done that? European nights > Wembley

  7. Haven't Celtic been trying to do this with Rangers not being around?

    #7127
  8. Why not both? Playing Wigan would give them a great chance to win it. Do that and they'd have European football anyway.

Its a bit like having £5k in your hand with three boxes in front of you. Two boxed have £15k in but the other has nothing, do you gamble? The odds are in your favour so bloody go for it!

We are too big for the Europa League but we are not too good for it as this season has proved.

If football was based on clubs being to big for one thing or the other, it wouldnt be much fun. Let an english minnow have a season in europe. Its only fair. Weve had too many CL campaigns anyway <ok>

Other than in European competition they've only played in pre season friendlies and testimonials?

    #7132
  13. I'm sure they've pulled out a league fixture or two to play in money raising friendlies?

    What constitutes a failure?

We cant win them all, theres a few other sides competing.

regular semi finalists? Surely thats got to be considered a success, numerous finals and multiple wins.

Not sure who, if anyone bar those with expectations so high its unnatural, would think thats a failure.

  17. Surely you should want to win it to complete the European set? We can't because the Cup-Winners-Cup seizes to exist. Chelsea are the only English club to have won all three.

Also, don't underestimate the impact of no European football at all has on signing players. Sure, its only one season but the Europa League is still a big competition for players and non-english fans!

He calls the EL a "tournament for losers" but that's what Man Utd are now. They probably won't even have to "snub" it unless Spurs or Everton decide to go on holiday early.

  20. For a club of Man Utd's size, two wins in 20+ years isn't great is it?
