Hull City will not be in the Europa League, if our owner gets his way, mind you there's a point would we be able to enter the Europa League if the name is changed, after all we would of qualified as Hull City NOT Hull Tigers. The governing body may not allow it. Hope so that would really **** on Allam's parade
I actually do think that Bruce will be approached by a bigger club some time in the near future. He's been amazing for us so far and if he keeps us up and gets European football for us too, its only a matter of time before someone in the prem sacks their manager and wants a good old fashioned english manager with bags of experience. But until that day comes... We already needed to bring in new players in the summer anyway, left back, centre mid (livermore?), maybe a winger too. Bruce will be given more money to spend im guessing from the funds we get from being in the Europa league, TV revenue etc.. So im sure we'll be able to strengthen in key areas.
Take every opportunity we can, you never know when or if it will ever come round again. Great if we win semi and get Arsenal. That means no early summer qualifying rounds and also some big teams at the KC the likes we have not seen since the days of the Anglo Italian Cup. And of course all the extra revenue gives us a great chance to develop an even better club than we have now. Glory days indeed.
http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/fans/faqs/who-qualifies-to-play-in-europe/ UEFA Europa League "There are three places in the UEFA Europa League available: the FA Cup winners will enter at the Group Stage; the fifth place team in the Barclays Premier League will enter at the Play-Off stage; and the Football League Cup winners will enter at the Q3 stage. In the event the FA Cup winners are qualified for the UEFA Champions League the FA Cup runners-up will qualify, but in the place reserved for the lowest ranking Barclays Premier League representative. The place with direct access to the Group Stage will be given to the club that finishes in the highest position in the Barclays Premier League of the clubs qualifying for the UEFA Europa League. English winners of the UEFA Europa League will enter at the Group Stage, gaining an extra domestic place only if they fail to qualify through other means for the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League. If the holders of the UEFA Europa League have already qualified for Europe, no extra domestic place will be gained. Should the FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Football League Cup winners already have qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Premier League" I seem to recall reading they were stopping the cup runners up from qualifying, starting from the 2015 season.
That is exactly what I was about to write once I'd got to the end of this thread, you beat me to it That is, of course if we're not doing a Manchester City and counting our chickens!!
Given Bayer Leverkusen and Red Bull Salzburg are alright in there, I doubt Hull Tigers would bother them.
Precisely this. Id rather have a European run and get relegated next season than finish 4th bottom and not get into Europe. Why is everyone so ingrained in staying in the Prem is the be all and end all? It's ****ing Sky again "if you're not in the Premier League, you're nothing". Id rather win the FA Cup and get into Europe and finish bottom with zero points than just aim for 4th bottom every ****ing season. Seriously - where is the fun in that? Other than money, can someone explain why this is a good aspiration?
You say it like you're surprised. And I am being entirely serious btw. I know people might think the EPL income is the most important thing but would you really swap days out at Wembley in major cup competitions, maybe even winning one, and a European adventure followed by relegation for 10 years of finishing 4th from bottom? If a genie offered you these which would you take? If we - or Hull Tigers - finish 4th bottom for the next decade we'd all be bored absolutely f**king ****less by it and I'm sure attendances would drop masisvely.
Although European football is what we have all dreamed of but never really thought a reality, the fact of the matter is that over recent seasons English teams entered in the Europa League at the early stages have struggled all season combined with a financial burden unless we reach the latter stages....potential - loss maker and knackered squad !
How often has a team playing in the Europa league actually got relegated? I can't recall it happening.
It all depends on whether you view the Uefa Cup and Europa League as the same thing. Since the change there have only been four completed seasons and most of England's representatives have been "top" teams (with the odd Fulham/Swansea/Wigan), so the chances of one being relegated have been limited.
Palace, Norwich, Swansea, Stoke,Villa, West Ham, Newcastle, Spurs, Liverpool, Man Utd. All British managers. Some of those clubs are bigger than us. It depends what you mean by consolidate. In the end City will be relegated. That's not being negative. That's a fact. Bolton stayed up for years and now they're down. Fulham are going the same way. Those two had seemingly "consolidated".
Birmingham City fans might say getting in the Europa league killed their chance of getting back to the PL. Some big clubs have had very indifferent seasons while playing in the Europa League.
But where can they realistically expect to finish without European football? I'd much rather have a season of European football and average league form than finish a couple of places higher up in the league and have no European games to look forward to.
Hull City playing competitive games in Europe was the dream of the late, great, Harold Needler. Because City were one of the first clubs with floodlights we were often involved in friendly matches with Europes elite. They all played at Boothferry Park especially in the 1950's, a little known fact and one completely airbrushed out when the local rag was demanding Boothferry Park to be bulldozed. We beat the then reining world club champions at BP. Vaas, the champions of Hungry came and beat all the top English clubs then third division Hull City stepped in with an invite after one particular club had to pull out. Even the FA tried to stop the game going ahead because it would be ' embarrassing' And City beat them 3-0 with a hat trick from Bill Bradbury. Hull has a Port has been crying out for European football. Someone remind the council. Can you imagine a two legged game against FC Brugge, Feyenord or Ajax? We will never ever have a better chance.
