His playing career when he was an England International was between 1992-2009. Looking at the list of England captains in that time; who does he think he could of been Captain over?

    David Beckham 1996–2009 59 Nope
    Steven Gerrard 2000–present 35 Nope
    Alan Shearer 1992–2000 34 Nope
    John Terry 2003–2012 34 Nope
David Platt 1989–1996 19 Nope, Too early
Gary Lineker 1984–1992 18 Nope, too early
    Tony Adams 1987–2000 15 Nope
    Stuart Pearce 1987–1999 10 Nope
    Michael Owen 1998–2008 9 Maybe
    Paul Ince 1992–2000 7 Maybe
    Rio Ferdinand1 1997–2011 7 Maybe
    Sol Campbell 1996–2007 3 Doh!
    Frank Lampard 1999–present 3 Maybe
    Wayne Rooney 2003–present 2 Maybe
Mark Wright 1984–1996 1 Nope, too early
David Seaman 1988–2003 1 Nope. too early
    Martin Keown 1992–2002 1 Maybe
Gareth Barry 2000–present 1 Nope, his captaincy was later
Scott Parker 2003–present 1 Nope, his captaincy was later

So by my reckoning, he is challenging around 20 caps where he could justifiably believe that he could of been captain.....and and on 14 of those 20 occasions, the captain was either Ince or Ferdinand! <doh>

the guy had problems... I can't understand why he doesn't see that its not a ali g moment with all england managers but every single one of them seeing that he was a shy guy with a depressive aspect that loading extra on him might have harmed his performance.

I think he was in his rights to join arsenal but it was a real kick in the spurs fans teeth. after that i think he went off the rails at the end

he is right about michael owen "era" i think thats the main time he was over looked but again... a manager has a right to look at a guys personality and say hey loading you with this attentions not good for you. he i think cannot see that.

  4. Why was Owen captain? Must have been a friendly or something where its makeshift squad? So maybe Campbell wasn't playing since he would have been a older more established player?

only way of truly looking at it is if someone lists who was captain in each of the 79 games Sol played rather than just looking at the time period. and no, I'm not doing it <laugh>

He's a toss pot, basically. If the manager was racist, he wouldn't be in the ****ing squad, never mind captain.

His latest BBC interview where he talks about the lack of black managers in the league and how somehow they're being blocked to reaching those positions is another ludicrous comment. Not to mention how he thinks black people should be given more opportunities for interviews. Right, because positive discrimination solves everything. Sorry, but I'm tired of more of this crap clogging up my news. The bloke sacked from Charlton, Powell, was sacked because his team were bottom of the league. Ie, he's a **** manager. Not because he's black. Ince was sacked for underachieving too. Hughton was (wrongly) sacked by Newcastle because they felt he wasn't going to push them onwards after a great season. So if non are sacked because of race, why would they be sacked for it?

Maybe the fact there aren't many black managers is more to do with how black players from the 90s and 00s are currently doing their badges and training instead of leaping straight into management and failing. That there aren't many right now is more so because there simply weren't many black players during the 80s or earlier. Guaranteed there will be more in the next ten years. Let them get through the system first, Sol.

    Muppet.

Sounds like ideal captain material to me.

There's a distinct lack of Chinese and Asian managers.

    Talk that point up Sol.<grr>

The thing that gets my goat is the fact that because the percentage of black managers is not close to the percentage of black people in the population, then there must be some racism involved.
Maybe there are just not many good enough at doing the job the job.
So then they say there should be a fixed quota that should be black, that is all well and good as long as the same system is used with the players and other teams say the GB athletic team
I am pretty sure if they are good enough they would get the jobs, just like if they are a good enough player they will get picked
