Newcastle United Hope To Land QPR Striker Loic Remy In Cut-Price Deal

by Ron Carne March 10th, 2014

Newcastle United hope to be able to sign on-loan front man Loic Remy permanently from financially-stricken Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers in a cut=price deal this summer, according to reports in the Newcastle Chronicle.

The north-east giants secured a season-long loan deal for the prolific France international in August, with the attacker having since gone on to record an impressive 13 goals and two assists in total in his 24 matches in all competitions for Alan Pardew’s side, all of which have come in his 23 Premier League outings for then club.

And as a result, the Magpies are understood to be desperate to land Remy on a permanent deal when his loan stint at St James’ Park comes to an end this summer.

However, with his parent club now facing a potential £50m fine, Newcastle are said to be confident of landing Remy on the cheap next season.

Seems like another BS report, who's going to give out £50m fines which would put clubs out of business?

Why would we sell on the cheap when will be no shortage of clubs looking to buy?

Beard/Tony should be shot if they put in that 8 Mill release clause!. Maybe his agent agent did,but why if they know he is worth £20 mill??. Dread to think his value if he scores a few in the world cup:headbang:

Calm down. We paid £8m for him, he couldn't get into the Marseilles team at the time, his value had plummeted over the previous 2 years. He clearly never wanted to play in the Championship, the clause was a key factor in him coming to us at all. Had the manager and most of the rest of the squad done their jobs and kept us up he would still be an Rs player and we could get a lot more for him.

We'll see if the clause still stands in the summer. I seem to recall he turned down an attempt by Newcastle to make the move permanent in the last window, with the words 'I am still a QPR player'. There is a chance that, if we get promoted, he will stay with us - I think London is the pull, I suspect we still pay him more than Arsenal, and definitely Newcastle, would, and he's guaranteed a start in out team, up against Giroud at Arsenal, who is also keeping out of the French team......but I'm not holding my breath, he is made for the Gooners.

Logic of a complete moron !!!

Club with poor finances, would sell their major asset on the cheap ????

Logic would say, we would hold out for the best possible bid, not the other way around, knowing we already have Newcastle and Arsenal interested, in a proven EPL goal scorer.

We are exempt from it this season.

We are under no pressure to sell, its just local fans/reporters wishing they could get him cheap.

Remy doesn't even want to go to Newcastle.

Can anyone be a journalist these days? Even if our backers were to suddenly leave and the club became financially untenable even the receivers would insist on getting maximum value for its assets.
