I am not asking you to leave, on the contrary, to contribute. What's your views on JESUS, BIBLE, GOD, EVOLUTION? Simple short sentences would do.

This, more or less, was my line of thinking many years ago which led me to my current stance.
If you can accept God can have existed forever, or outside of time, then why not the Universe in some form or other, without the need of a sentient creator?
It all comes down to what you choose to believe, because so far at least, it can't be proven either way.

Don't you see that there is both a huge difference and a ridiculously fast slippery slope between somebody of faith believing that the big-bang was initiated by a creator (and things took then their science-mapped course) and somebody else of faith believing that Moses parted the Red Sea, Jesus rose from the dead, God takes your nightly prayers to heart, and Thatcher burns in hell?

I'd convert if it meant Thatcher would burn in Hell.

You've got that wrong make, people are having a go at Livtor because he has constantly ridiculed people with a different stance to him. You asked me a question earlier as if I believed in God, I don't. But I respect other peoples thoughts on the matter and haven't closed my mind on the subject.

There is a huge difference but there is absolutely no point in trying to explain why to such a limited flat earth adherent as you. Your literalism goes before you and limits you severly.

If an afterlife exists then life is just a brief game (70 years compared with eternity) and nothing you do matters.

If an afterlife exists no one can ever do anything that is deserving of Hell. Maggie was a total **** but would the miners etc. really still have a grudge after their 1 millionth year of total bliss?

If an afterlife exists Hitler is nicer than God. He tortured Jews for less than 10 years. God wants to torture them forever for not believing in Jesus.

Reminds me of a joke Dave Allen used to tell. St Peter is showing a new arrival around Heaven. "Just over there, that group is the Catholics, and close by is the Protestants and the Orthodox believers. Then that group over there is the Muslims, split into Shi'ites and Sunnis". "What's behind that wall there?", enquires the entrant. "Shush!" responds St Peter, "That's the Jews and they like to think they're the only ones here"....

Interesting point. If you've lived a saintly live of sacrifice, abstinence, penance, etc, and you get to Heaven and the first face you see is Adolf on a cloud playing his harp, well you'd be seriously pissed off, wouldn't you? Or do you go through a moment of revelation as you enter the gates, when all God's grand design becomes apparent? Or would you think "****, I could have done what I wanted and still be here anyway?"

I don't know. I thank God for giving me the mind to ask the question though.

He's certainly displayed no evidence of lateral thinking. I don't think he was expecting the Pope to have entertained the idea of extraterrestrials either <laugh>

Posting chapter and verse doesn't tell me what 'being created in God's image' means to you. And how on earth [no pun intended] could I possibly have any idea on the second sentence. Really you think anyone on earth could?

I respsect Page's attempts last night to keep things on an even keel. I have enjoyed the dialogue with frank and CCC who ask searching questions so as to increase their own understanding. However, the pathetic attacks from Livotr and the constant sarcasm contained in supposed questions by DD is more than a little tiresome. Having said all of that this thread is a testimony that (a) football fans (especially LFC fans ;)) are not all mindless morons and (b) that even the most deeply held convictions can be discussed when there is goodwill on both sides - now that has to bode well for the future of mankind <ok>
