4 days off of work to enjoy some great racing.. My bets for day one although will wait until the morning as some may drift:-

1.30pm The Liquidator & Sgt Reckless
2.05pm Trifolium (A superb jumper of a fence and I believe will take all the beating.)
3.20pm My Tent or Yours (very confident now ground is drying all the time)
    4.40pm Shotgun Paddy
    5.15pm Manyriverstocross

William Hill are paying out on 5 places in the Supreme so my bet will go with them for the first race.

    Good luck everyone.

    Hi Ian

Sorry to hear you've been in hospital. My grandson is in and out of hospital with asthma. Nasty problem isn't it. Hope you are OK and take it easy.

1.30 Cheltenham Valseur Lido 16/1 e.w As you will have seen in the preview I really liked this horse. The big worry is that he missed his work a few weeks back so has been playing catchup but WM is letting him take his chance based on what he has done when winning at Cork on debut. He won and surprised his team that day by winning 12 lengths from horses who have since gone on to Valmy Baie (a comfortbale winner of 116) , Blow The Doors off (maiden winner since), and Kylestyle (rated 130). He just looked a proper horse and one I have been excited to see, especially on good ground. Paul Townend really liked him. Hopefully he is fit and well anc can surprise his stablemates by going very close.

2.05 Cheltenham Valdez 10/1 He has jumped very well and has really stepped forward on his hurdles form. He won at Newbury in a very good time and if he jumps as well as he did that day he'd be in the mix here. Alan King thinks good ground might really aid him so perhaps things have fallen nicely into place. WESTERN WARHORSE is someone who you shouldn't fully dismiss despite some fancy odds and he might have a key say in this race- he jumps like an absolute stag and he will only go one way- from the front. This is a big factor in the sort of race that Champagne Fever has, because he usually wins when he front-runs and I'd be concerned about his gears if he is held up. Perhaps Champagne Fever will shake him off and if he does, he stays so well that he has to go close if jumping really well. Interesting race not so keen on Dodging Bullets or Rock On Ruby but they have been solid jumpers. I just think they might get outgalloped. If they win though then fair play, they have had good seasons!

    3.20 The New One 3/1

So much interest in this race. There is a flood of money coming for My Tent Or Yours tonight and I suspect that much of it is based on the fact he will get a surface that will help him for the first time. His speed will be maximised tomorrow and I can see why the support is there. However, Kempton was a track made for him and a half length verdict over The New One shouldn't be enough to keep him in front over a stiffer, undulating track. Nigel Twiston Davies' charge shouldn't have an issue on the good ground either and his burst up the hill can be potent- as long as it is timed correctly! Hurricane Fly has seen off the two Irish pretenders so far and he is as always very difficult to oppose. If they go a good gallop and he picks this lot off then there will be no argument left around Hurricane Fly. Can he find even more and dig deep for a 3rd crown?? Our Conor on good ground and at full peak is a fascinating prospect and all the questions will be answered tomorrow.

    5.15 Cheltenham

Handicaps are not my thing but I have watched a novice chaser this season who I am convinced has been held back and laid out for a race like this and that horse, unsurprisingly trained by David Pipe, is CLOSE HOUSE. HE has twice shaped with promise in behind Oscar Whisky in small field affairs that were not run to suit, and was then never put into the race last time out, meaning they were protecting his mark. I am very interested in him off a mark of 135 and to be honest I can't believe they have gotten away with it. The big field should really suit him and the first time blinkers have been added also. A sporting chance at 16/1.

    Day 1 Placepot:

    Valseur Lido/Western Boy/Vaniteux
    Valdez/Champagne Fever
Fruity O'Rooney/Tour Des Champs/Time For Rupert
    Our Conor/The New One
    Quevega/Sirene D'Ainay
    Rogue Angel/Shotgun Paddy/Shutthefrontdoor

    Small stakes.

    Cheltenham expectations lads?

    5 winners. I think I'll have 5 winners.

Almost certainly will not place a winning handicap bet.

I know what you mean Bob, but the Supreme doesn't always throw up 2m future hurdlers. Look at Al Ferof, Champagne Fever for example.

I think tomorrows race looks the best Supreme since 2011s renewal and I think a good few of them will make nice chasers!

1.30 Western Boy & Splash of Ginge both ew
    2.05 Rock on Ruby
2.40 Fruity O'Rooney. EW Largely sentimental. However in 2012 FOR (28s) met Alfie Sherrin (8s) in this same race. AS prevailed by a length, tomorrow FOR has a 13 lb pull.
    3.20 The New One
    4.00 Down Ace ew
5.15 Grandads Horse ew. 40s massive for an affirmed good ground horse who has previously run well here before.

    All the best.
