Who would have thought that Wigan, having beaten Man City against the odds to win the cup last season, would repeat the feat and beat them again. This after being relegated last season as well. Wonder what the odds are for them to win the trophy again. Man City season beginning to unravel I think.
Maybe in this game but once they got going then they'll like an an immovable force , too complacent in the first half but then picked it up a gear and were unlucky in the end not to force the draw .Trouble is now we'll have Whelan's face on he papers for a few days now
Great for football, I wonder what the odds were at the beginning of the season for neither Manchester club to win a trophy?
Do keep up Smithers! Noel Gallacher, Little and Large, Manuel Pellegrini, The UAE, Stuart Hall, and wassisname...your boys took a hell of a beating. Tee bloody hee. Strange semi final line up though, Hull, Sheff Utd, Wigan and the other mob
I dont class that as a trophy.... I mean the league, FA Cup or Champions league, because lets face it i think neither manager will be in the good books if they havent achieved one of these.
The only thing Stoke have ever won (apart from the Autoglass Trophy!) and you say it's not a proper competition?! I'd be bouncing off the walls if we ever won the League Cup again!
Yeah, Ipswich fans say the same to us - because it's something they never won, so by default is meaningless Mind you, they all got tied up in knots when they made the semis a few season ago, before being destroyed by your mates from North London.
For the likes of the supposed big clubs it's normally a lesser priority competition, because they focus heavily on the other competitions. Anyway, back to my point, I can't see either club being content with this season based on the fact that Man City have a tough slog to regain the lead in the prem, neither are in the cup (FA) and the champions league is unlikely for all our clubs - IMO
Yeh Yeh Yeh.......I'm glad I amuse you all..... .....but in all seriousness I 'no longer' view the League Cup as a proper competition. Even in the latter stages we often see 2nd string players and managers resting the core team for another match in 10 weeks time. It's merely another way to extort money from loyal and hard working fans! I'd rather be the runner up in the FA cup
I think the bigger problem is that staying in the prem or getting champs league slots is a bigger money spinner than the cup competitions, the FA Cup has a better pedigree but also suffers somewhat from the business side of the game.
I think I'd like Arsenal to win something this season... Wouldn't want Wenger to get sacked, we'd have to find someone new to take the piss out of!
