How could they have said he was entering his prime at the last world cup? He'd have been 23 come the start of the tournament. He'll be 27 (obviously) this time.
I may be wrong but the last world cup was 2010...the year Messi won hi first of 3 successive FIFA Ballon d'Or trophies (2010,2011,2012).....whereas this year, he hasn't. I'd say he was at his prime in 2010. Wouldn't you?
I was meaning the typical prime years of 26-29. I think Messi was under immense pressure last time, maybe the pressure is not as high this time? Suppose it depends on how he plays for Barca for the rest of the season. PS...Maradona being manager last time didn't exactly help either
Messi is not typical though Seriously though, still the best player in the world for me (arguable)....glides over the pitch, it's mesmerising to watch. I think he's now playing in the same position for Argentina as he does for Barca and it shows.
