I'd pay £50 for the Holiday Inn, rather than £35 for the Campanile, unless you want a hooker for the evening. Apparently, if you book far enough ahead, you can get the train from London to Hull for £10-15 and it's much quicker than the bus(though there are restrictions on what days and times you can travel on the cheap tickets).
I'd go with that also isn't there a new Travelodge right next to the Camponile now, that would be a better option I reckon?
I think some of the Hull based poster can take you out around the old town (Ye Olde White Harte, Black Boy etc). You'll love it. (I'm planning on doing the Burnley game and the Brighton game this season.) Or you can go to the numerous southern away games: Brighton, Watford, Millwall, West Ham, Reading, Portsmouth, Southampton, Crystal palace and enjoy the grrrrreat away tigerrrrrr support).
Does the £35 include the hooker? If so why not say you don't want the hooker (sound advice) and knock £5 off the bill? Even cheaper than the Travelodge!
as an ex pat i am shocked that not one of you geezers have offered to these guys up! having said that are there not b&b ,s still down spring bank west? not far from town + a good pub crawl up spring bank. there,s gotta be flights up north or to the midlands.surly ull aint that cut off one must fly to lundun then travel 200 mile up north. good luck to you anyways.maybe u can team up for the top oss tigers supporters club from the netherlands, now those lads enjoy a night out in sunny ull!!!!
Febbos come for the Blackpool game I'll be home for that one and we can have a night out round the town. I stay at the royal station hotel it's about 60 pounds a night but it's very nice and real handy for everything like the old town, the KC, and its right at the station. I'll buy the beer so that might save you a few quid.
or the Premier inn opposite the Deep. Premier Inn usually do £29 a night deals during the weekend. Or Travelodge, or Ibis. All relatively new so should be ok!
A while back, I stayed in the Ibis down Ferensway, which was fine and according to the website currently costs £21 http://www.ibishotel.com/ Yesterday I booked my train tickets for the Blackpol game (hoping that they don't move the match for Sky), it costs £15 each way on Hull Trains. If you book via the East Coast site, you can usually find all the cheapest options http://www.eastcoast.co.uk/ I've never tried booking from abroad, so don't know of the limitations some have mentioned on here, but you can select an option to collect tickets from a Fast Track machine at the station, so would avoid any issues with posting abroad (you just need your credit card for the machine to collect them
Travelodge is 29 quid for the Saturday of Blackpool or Palace- plus 3 adults can share the room. Its new so should still be decent digs.
Just out of interest how did you come about supporting city from sweden?.ps taxi from hotel to princess ave for lunch n drinks, then the match then old town for best alcoholic day out in hull!...wellington pub just off freetown way near your hotel is cool.
I was just thinking Febbo's, theres the Freedom Festival in September which you could possibly do whilst you were here, ie pick a game on the same weekend. Town centre has a really gd atmosphere/full of people. Downside being hotel prices will probably be a little more expensive and limited. But you'd get some free music on the night after the game and then theres usually some street theatre/cultural performance art to finish it all off. Just a thought... http://www.visithullandeastyorkshire.com/events/freedom.aspx
You shoud really be able to multiquote..... Firth: Well, the beer-part sounds nice glennonslastpint/Ealing_Tiger/Chazz Reinhold: Thanks for the hostel/motell/hotell suggestions! Hesford heroes: Good question, don't really have a good answer though. Had a extremely good knowledge about the Premier League/The Championship during 2006/2007 (I more or less knew the starting players in every of team) But without really cheering for any team besides the one in Sweden. Came across Hull and liked the story behind the club, the whole underdog thing.....And Hull had some legendary players back then Myhill, Daws, Ash, Barmby, Windass etc Started to follow them and I am still here after 4 years Robingram02: Thanks, good suggestion. But remember, it's Febbos, not Febbo's
I have no idea why I used an apostrophe in your name, I must still be in a post match stupour from Yorkshire's fine win over Lancashire last night. Or im just ignorant, you pick...
Did you lot go to Headingly last night Rob? Me and Milnsey listened to it on radio. Back to back wins over the old enemy is pleasing, especially when we had high hopes for the season and we've failed to live up to it. As for Febbos. Old Town (after the match and during the night) or Prinny Ave (before the match) are good watering holes if you and the Scandinavian Tigers want to have a few beverages. The freedom festival is a good idea and either the travel lodge or the campanile is just down the road so you can stagger back pissed with ease. The other games i'd look at is West Ham at home in November. And you should be able to bring a flag into the ground no problem.
