    Well, either the two stolen Passports mean nothing, and the plane had a fault and crashed into the sea, or something happened on the plane involving the two people with the passports. Either way over 200 people are dead. The plane's at the bottom of the South China Sea, I don't think there can be much doubt about that.

    There's a second element to that, as well: if it was a terrorist attack, presumably the two (or more) people involved could have passed as an Italian and Austrian...that would presumably rule out quite a few potential terrorist groups, a Uighur insurgency among them. Unless Malaysian officials are just that lax.

    It also explains why my Malaysian and Singaporean colleagues had a 40 hour trip home from the US ... Delayed in Hong Kong

    Well if it has landed safely surely we would have known about it. The plane would have run out of fuel by now so there's no way it's still in the air.

    If no one sent out a Mayday, something catastrophic affecting the cockpit must have occurred. It was attempting to turn back....so surprised no message was sent. Perhaps hijackers had entered the cockpit (though this is more unlikely these days) or the pilot/co-pilot was involved...better it crashed than another 9/11. It could be an accident like the Air France crash though.
