£30m is realistic but only when you add Reina and Agger/Skrtel to the list. No chance of averaging £6m from the players you said Edit: seen others have questioned this and you got the rag on as a result () so ignore this comment
Your own evaluations above add up to 30M . Caroll was an obscene buy that never should be spoken before a minute of silence. As well, we'll offload players in prime or before prime unlike Downing, who have not totally worn out their welcome ala Downing, or who are not wooden technically, ala Adam. In any case, what's important to realise is that 60M+sales should be enough to strengthen in our weaker areas. Good news. I hope that Rodgers keeps his word and goes for first team material, esp CM. I also can't see how people have failed to be impressed by Kono's technique, work rate and shooting in his appearances for Ukraine and Dnipro in the EL. Scorning the Ukrainian league is a cheap shot imo, as talent is talent. Plus, good players 20M+ like Mikhi and Willian have hailed from there.
not me, seen him in a few games as wanted to know what we missed out on, and pretty gutted we missed out, him and sterling rotating could of been what made the dif to us getting better than 3rd.
It was just over £20m. Rodger's strengthened the forwards when he first joined, then the defence this summer so think he'll start looking at midfield and some first team quality in there now. I hadn't seen anything of Kono before we were linked but watched him against Spurs and he looked very good. Very direct and tricky and would be a good option. Would need to see a lot more before making a judgement but I'm sure Rodgers would have been watching him a lot and seen something in him that offers something different to our current players.
I'd spend about 30mil on a world class box to box midfielder. Then spend 15mil on a DM and 10mil on a RB/LB. Then I'd give Skylarker 5mil for being so ****ing awesome. Our defence is shaky at the moment. But we have Sakho, and Enrique to come back so I'm not too concerned. Enrique and Flanno as FB's and Sakho and Agger/Skrtel as CB's. Rodgers by the looks of things is after a winger - and to be honest that would be good business, as other than Sterling we don't have too many options.
what's with this dodgy accounting ****e now if you had said bonus of a couple of mill for jenners as well, i may have let it slide ibe isnt ready yet apparently, not sure what that's based on, but he is young so has time, need impact players now and kono fits that requirement.
It'll be £60m including sales. If even that, I wouldn't be surprised if the £60m included any extra wages on the wage bill. And I doubt we'll be going for anyone like Gundogan, Kroos etc because they'd want too much money. Also I'd be surprised if we spent anywhere near that in net spend, so I'm going to call this story a load of rubbish.
Same with Man Utd and Ronaldo. They were never the same team after selling him. I think the main problem is that you sell one player and bring in 3 other high profile ones to replace him you are altering the whole style and shape of the team. And its always tough to change your whole style around in 1 transfer window.
style should only change with manager. utd appointed moyes... are the shocked they play long ball spurs appoint 20 managers... are they shocked their team doesn't know what the f its doing?
We dont really play with traditional wingers anyways. Sterling operates as a forward in a fluid front 3. He is closest to a winger but we don't necessarily need Ashley Young-style, cross the ball artists. Ive had the unfortunate experience of having many Konoplyankas play for Partizan. They learn how to dribble, look a class above in a very poor league for a local powerhouse, motivate themselves for a couple Europa games and get found out at any normal sized club. He might be amazing but I've seen my club try to offload such players many times. Remember he is almost 25 and still plying his trade at Dnipro. Worth a 10m gamble but no more.
