According to http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...t-Liverpool-secure-Champions-League-spot.html Now, some fun, ignoring wage demands, if you were Rodgers, how would you spend the cash on your first 11 and 5 subs.
Haven't got time to do a team but I'd buy 2 top quality players probably a centre back and a central midfielder.
That is a drop in the ocean for Chelsea and City, Rodgers already proved that he can do well on a smaller budget to both Chelsea and City.
Well I was thinking somewhere along the line of... Shaw (£20m) Kono (£20m) Caulkar (£10m) Remy (£10m) Plus Borini and Suso coming back, thats 6 good players that be added to the squad.
You'd really spend 20mill on a LB? So much money for a position which won't really improve the team. You'd then just have a 60k a week, and perfectly good, LB sitting on the bench in Enrique. I'd certainly look at Remy though...him and Borini as options from the bench could be useful. Kono again would be a great addition. That'd leave 40mill which I would pump entirely into the centre of the park.
Sell Reina, Johnson, Agger/Skrtel and Aspas for a combined £25m making it a £85m budget. Buy Neymar for £85m #footballmanager
Promise the chairman you will win the League and Champion league and ask for another £50m and buy Messi for £135m.
I was serious with the selling part but I couldn't be arsed with the buying bit. GK: if we are happy with Jones then we don't need one RB: We need someone especially if we sell Johnson CB: If one of Agger or Skrtel leave then we need someone. I expect to see Coates leave, possibly Kelly too. Ilori will go out on loan again. LB: We only have Enrique so need someone CM: Is Gerrard, Allen , Henderson and Lucas enough? Not IMO, we need someone AM: Coutinho and...? Could do with someone RW/LW: beyond Sterling, who is there? Need someone CF: Sturridge and Suarez have this covered. So, that's a RB, LB, CB, CM, AM, RW, LW and CF We are not going to get that many so some of those positions will need to be combined. Maybe four signings with two being for the now: 1) RB is covered if Wisdom returns but leaves us with Flanno and Wisdom, not much experience. Maybe get someone that can play RB and LB? 2) CB is needed IMO. 3) Someone that can play DM, CM or AM? Maybe just two of the three roles? Add one player to the four we have and I'll be happy. 4) A versatile attacker similar to Suarez and Sturridge (in terns of flexibility rather than expecting that ability) Wisdom, Borini, Suso and Assaidi all returning will help in the highlighted positions too. So, IMO, spend big on a CB and CM for the now then buy a competitive FB and attacker that can help out now but will get much better in time.
Full Backs. Most important in my opinion. Yuto Nagamato, predominantly LB but can play RB, two footed, prob get him for 12-13M, 27, and Inter not getting CL next year. Very quick. Bit short. Nick Serge Aurier out from under Wengers nose.around 8M only 21, RB, Toulose nowhere to be seen CL wise. Flannigan can compete with either. Enrique will either manage to be fit to compete or not. Johnson sold. Midfield, Gundogen 27M, future Gerrard replacement Konoplyanka. 20M, go for him again if we actually wanted him. Obviously need to sell some to get the difference and wages.... tex, introduced more to compete with Coutinho and Allen. Ibe as another wide option. Borini returning to be the other striker.
60M? Not bad at all, and we could add to that about 20-30M in player sales. (After the posted losses and FFP menace, I was afraid we'd be limited to a significantly smaller kitty.) It will all depend who Rodgers 1) decides to sell and 2) recalls from/sends out on loan. In my view: Buy: 80M Defence: Buy a mature CB for 15M. Work on Enrique's fitness, Johnson's mojo, Flano's crossing. Midfield: A DM/CM, e.g. Schneiderlin 10M. And a quality goal-scoring box-to-box CM, which could double for ACM as well, e.g. Kroos. 35M. Winger/Forward: Kono 20M. Impressed with his speed, technique, especially his shot. I see goals there. Sell: 30M Borini, Aspas, Suso, Kelly, Assaidi ... Keep 10M for FB in January - if injury problems persist there. Done.
Paying 20m for Kono is ridiculous. None of our rivals seem to be in for him. He could probably even earn a free transfer based on what happened in the winter. We bought Suarez and Torres for about those sums. Chelsea have snapped up players for much less too this season - the inflated market is not ALWAYS in effect. We are also basing that valuation on a couple games against Tottenham. I doubt many of you realise the disparity in the quality of any Eastern European league and the Prem. For me he is not young enough to be worth a gamble. I'd spend 20 - 25m on a CM as a Gerrard replacement, 10m on competition for Lucas, and the rest on fullbacks or defenders based on need. We should bring in a bit from sales too (Aspas). Bring back Suso and Borini and we should be set offensively - (Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho, Suso, Borini). We should also be set in the midfield (Henderson, Gerrard, Younger Gerrard, Lucas, Allen) though one more midfielder could be useful. Our defence needs work and that for me is pairing Agger with Sakho, replacing Toure with Ilori, and if Skrts isnt happy on the bench he can leave and we will find a replacement. A RB for Flanagan to compete with and a LB for Enrique to compete with. All in all 60m should do it if we sell anyone.
agree, wasn't he in jan still held value, now that ship has sailed, i though he was in last year of contract saying that, we could come up against a team that just wants to buy him so others don't. wonder who they could be
Thought we were offering around £14m in Jan? Surely with him being in the last year of his contract we could get him for something similar of that price, if not then less.
