I didn't see the Lovren one, Morgan looked like a clear yellow card to me, one foot unless I remember wrongly.
Lovren was a "last man" type, and from what I saw, probably should have been a red. Schneiderlin's was more touch-and-go, and he was a bit unlucky his foot bounced up off the ball, but still, you've seen them given. Nothing to do with how many feet you use, rule is about force used.
I thought that Lovren could have been sent off, but the Schneiderlin look innocuous to me, clearly trying to win the ball. Webb was a card-happy referee today. Some of you will disagree, but that's just how I viewed his performance.
Although that drum is half annoying, it really does help create an atmosphere. Favourite away game for me this season, anyone see that fat fella in the executive boxes - was a first
Ugly win . Mark of a good side. Felt sorry forPuncheon. That will haunt him. Both sets of fans very good.
Victory!! Palace wanted it more and we still won! Shame for Jack Cork and Lovren limping off took a little shine from the final whistle. Hopefully both are not too serious. Shaw was MOTM from my poor vantage point deep in the bowels of Selhurst Park where the goings on in one corner of the pitch will remain a mystery. The England cap has certainly added to his increasing confidence and that 1st goal is looking ever closer. All eyes on Victor and that performance certainly showed why we kept more clean sheets with him on the pitch. With Cork any long balls over the top from Palace would have to be dealt with by either Fonte or Lovren attacking the ball. If either of them failed to deal with that initial ball it could leave us looking stretched at the back and to dangerous one on one situations. In the 2nd half most of Palaces hopeful punts were being attacked by Victor which allowed Fonte and Lovren to sweep the 2nd ball and we would have looked very solid had it not been for Victors achilies heel, the sloppy pass.
Must admit that I was one of the few that thought Shaw would be good but not as good as alot were saying. Today has opened my eyes somewhat, in defense he has always been sound, yet his first touch has improved so much and I still can not fathem not only how he controlled a ball that must have fallen 40 metres, but he then turned it into attack. The way that he just glides past players is something to behold, he makes the game look so simple. If he could add some more assists and a few goals to his game then he would be more of a player than Baines. Both his shots today were with power and on target so I´m sure goals will come. I have been converted and now realise this lad is the real deal and i realise the error of my ways
Lovren said he is fine. He said he took a kick in the lSt min of the game. The kick was from Jerome I think.
But I thought it was a case of Cork or Wanyama, not AND. As I said at the time, thank god we have both of them contracted to Southampton FC.
Seeing Kaboul sending off doesn't mean Lovren was lucky but shows how these referees have no consistency So was this the first time Saints won with Webb in Charge???
