Yeah he was tremendous in that game. To be fair he was a terrific player for Monaco before arriving but I think like many, was just here for the pay packet as injuries kicked in.

Two of our worst players have to be Boumsong (how he ever got to be called a footballer I don't know) and Marcelino. Another one best forgotten.

Souness just wanted to give Rangers a helping hand. I remember the sickening feeling of seeing his early performances and realising just how badly we'd been done.

Souness and Allardyce conspired against us:

Celestine Babayaro, Jean Alain Boumsong, Albert Luque, Mark Viduka, David Rozehnal, Geremi, Alan Smith, Cacapa, Faye...

And who can forget the reign of Kenny? Even if we forget the likes of Guivarch, Andreas Andersson and Stephen Glass... The signing of his really old mates Rush and Barnes and his son Paul, non of whom could have been chosen for what they offered the team is truly poor stuff.

Dogleash was a decent enough naturally talented footballer, but was brain dead and not equipped to be a manager, he really was useless and bringing his son in was a disgrace. Did anybody ever see him off the line? He did nothing but run up and down it and hadn't a clue how to put a cross over.

I for one was very happy to see them both go.

To be fair Dalglish had nothing on Souness and Allardyce in the bad signing stakes.

At least he left us with three members of the blue chip brigade under Bobby: Given, Nobby, Speed. Not just good, but great signings. Griffin and Dabizas served us well too. Unfortunately too much dross.

No one was as bad as Allardyce. Even Souness signed players who should have been good - Parker, Emre, Owen etc. The problem is Souness sold better players, breaking up the team Sir Bobby had left.
Dalglish did the same to the team Keegan left, selling Ferdinand, Beardsley, Asprilla, Ginola etc.

With transfers Dalglish, Souness and Allardyce are equally poor for me.

Dalglish was forced to by all accounts. They reckon a big part of KK going was he wanted more money to spend and was refused. Hall then wanted costs cut supposedly. How true that is, who knows? If you look at incoming and outgoings, it would certainly seem to be true. We got rid of a lot of big earners in his first year, and recouped more than we spent. By the end of his time we a significantly lower wage budget and a net spend under 5m or so.

We then gave Gullit the keys to the warchest and he blew 30 odd million on Goma, Dyer, Dunc, Maric, Domi, Dumas, and if course Elena Marcelino!

We've had some truly moronic moments but Dalglish wasn't actually in the same league as some of the others. He just had the thankless task of following KK, who had been a raging success and spent all the money. Dalglish actually reinstated the youth system and reserve team too.

According to Kammy on Goals on Sunday, Gaddafi was playing in the PL yesterday for Stoke. Surely he is the worst? Kammy is a legend, Malky Mackay was pissing himself. He was trying to say Guidetti. Mackay waxing lyrical about Hughton and dignity with which he handles difficult situations.

On a side note, Gaddafi's son had a spell as a pro footballer. He signed for Italian Serie A team Perugia in 2003, employing Diego Maradona as his technical consultant and Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson as his personal trainer. He made only one substitute appearance before failing a drug test <laugh> Still one of my favourite football stories. This was said of him at the time:

"Even at twice his current speed he would still be twice as slow as slow itself."

Caught a bit of the Norwich game, poor old Chris isn't too popular with most of the fans it seems.

AB he hasn't been for some time. I think they'll escape relegation and sack him anyway to be honest.
