On the back of our 1-0 win, it proved life without David McGoldrick ( get well soon ) does indeed go on this season ( for how long time will tell ), and that for once we do have an ounce of depth. By all accounts, even Mick's admission Paul Taylor stepped forwards, MOTM, and had a very good game for us. Mick has gone on record of stating ' if you play well enough, you will be in the team ', so appears Taylor will again be lining up for us. Next up, is the long away day to Middlesborough. They certainly have some very capable players at their disposal - Woodgate, Carayol, Tomlin, Adomah, and Graham. The more I look at their squad, and the more perplexed I am about their current abysmal run. ZERO, that's right, ZERO goals in Boro's last seven games. Is that some kind of record?!? This run surely cannot continue indefinitely, some team is going to face Boro at the wrong time and get a tonking I feel. Step forward Ipswich Town fc. We seem to love breaking records- *Blackpool had lost a bucket load of away games, and winless in 15 I think. 0-0 away draw at us. *Millwall without a win in ages, loss *Leeds on a terrible run, draw. For absolutely no reason in particular bar Boro clearly underachieving, I am going to plump for a 3-1 defeat. Just a gut feeling! Williams should be back however, he came on as sub for Wales last night so that's certainly a positive. SEB played 90 minutes with a goal lazio for the reserves, and Hyam could be back too. So that squad ( minus David McGoldrick ) is in the best shape for a while options wise. Fortunately for us, Brighton play Reading, and Wigan have no game. As ever, COME ON YOU BLUEEEESSSS !!!!!!!!!!!!
Good summary Westy...lots of talent in our squad coming into form, so if...big if, we score first, I can see us pinching at least a draw and even an amazing away win! 2-1 to Town, and up to breathing down their necks 7th!
I will predict the shock result of a 0-0 "any point away from home is a good point" and all that... we'll be left ruing some missed chances and a lack of intent but keep ourselves in view of those above us for now..
I know this was mentioned when the fixtures list first came out but I'm still bloody annoyed that we have our 2 furthest away games back to back with the long trek to Yeovil on the Tuesday night! I bet even Field Marshall would struggle to go to both of these games!
Yeah ridiculous this " computer fixture " rubbish. Tuesday night games in particular want looking into in future much more so for all clubs.
Paul Taylor and Williams will both start so it looks like MM is going up there to win! Anything to shut Spanish up!
We'll win comfortably now - Spanish will say i told you so, you'll be praising MM saying what a genius manager he is - but more importantly, you and Spanish will finally see the light and become bosom buddies
I get the feeling that this is Taylors audition to stay here over the summer. He proved his point last week, can he now show he can be valuable and consistent member of the first 11. I think if he can we'll see a lot more of him, if not he's a gonna. (Although, JET earned his 'title' back from MM and was still got shot of, so it may need to be outstanding performances from now till the end of the season to save him) I've also never seen Mick pause so much before answering a question when he was asked if Williams and Taylor be in the same eleven, read into that what you will. Regarding the game I think with the expected attacking line up, their poor form and memories of the victory last year (albeit at PR) I think we can be confident of a multigoal victory. 3-0.
I miss Spanish, so at least if we lose we get him back on here. Having said that, I think the Smoggies are there for the taking with their terrible run of form, so let's hope we go there with some surprises up our sleeves and give them a damn good thrashing (ooh, matron!).
