So the last saturday before The Greatest Festival On Turf! Racing from Sandown, Chepstown, Wolverhampton, Ayr, Gowran Park & Meydan 14.05 Sandown- Gone Too Far- 7/1 Could be the start of a very good day for AP and JP. Apparently they decided to skip cheltenham and make this his target for a long way out so he will be primed for this run. The ground shouldnt be too bad so he can cope with that. He has a 9lb pull in the weights against Portway Flyer so should reverse the form with him. He ran pretty well behind Vaniteux last month so if he wins tomorrow that will boost the form of Vaniteux. Has been given a decent initial mark so should go very well 13.45 Meydan- Shea Shea- 7/4
Well I've chosen that race for my hedging bet Wooly 1 point win on each of: Knight Of Noir 5/1 Gone Too Far 7/1 Ceasar Milan 10/1 Horizontal Speed 17/2
Also, in the Imperial Cup: 5 points Vibrato Valtat 18/5 5 points Regal Encore 18/5 1 point Harristown 20/1 1 point Somemothersdohavem 14/1
At Sandown tomorrow so hopefully I will have a few winners (especially the one that matters). ARBEO could be worth taking a chance on in the last. Yard and horse not in great form but won this last year off a 3lb higher mark so has to be given a chance. CARRY ON SYDNEY in the first looks like nap material to me.
stick, or anyone, is there a name for dutching bets where you don't guarantee the same profit if any one of the selections win. I've been calling them hedging bets but I believe that is a term used for laying off. My "bets" are geared towards a bigger profit if the one I think most likely to win, wins. So I'm kind of hedging my bets by having a bit on what I think are the dangers. Sometimes the "savers" may not even produce a profit if they win and are there purely to (hopefully) minimise loss if my preferred selection doesn't win.
Preview evening thread now complete with all 4 days races previewed. E/W Dabble on Harristown, best of luck with him The Don
I kooked at Arbeo and he actually ran OK LTO..definitely well h'capped. Also notice Soll is trying to follow up his win last year in the 2.40 off only a 2lb's higher mark..this years renewal does look more competitive and his form has been a little sketchy, albeit racing at a higher level than this C3 event. Off for a more in depth perusal.
Morning lads, happy to report I am sipping sparkling wine in the same Lufthansa lounge where I got stranded on the way to Cheltenham last year. Today is very different, sun ish shining, flight is on time Have a good day all
