Ozil got booed off near the end of that game when he was substituted. Not sure why, as he got the assist for the only goal.
Not sure why he's suddenly become so unpopular in his native country.

    "Not sure why"

    Yes you are. ;)

  3. I think it's the case that the Germans clearly see that Arsenal are simply not good enough, and they feel that Woezil will be dragged down by them. Which is exactly what is happening. You can't blame the German fans.

Good points. Still, if one injury causes a knock on effect across the pitch then it's back to the old argument about whether your squad is up to it. So often the difference for Chelsea, City and United could be put down to their ability to cope with injuries.

As much as we have been worse than you this season, given the size of our squad there was really no pressure on us to recruit in January. Wenger always seems to have a fragility in his squads and as a result any injury seems to put your squad under huge pressure. January really feels like a missed opportunity for you guys and I'm really hoping it costs you more than just a chance in the title race(no offence!).

As I said above, squad depth is really a problem for you guys. Central midfield is probably where you have the most depth yet one injury can **** up your whole team. As Arsenal fans you must shudder to think what would happen if you got a bad injury to Koscielny or Mertesacker. Our squad depth has really saved us from falling out of the mix altogether because our signings certainly haven't come close to covering for the influence Bale had in the first team.

Whilst I. Have named particularly Walcott and ramsey it's actually been to do with the style of player the y are, they run in behind the defence and are quick on the counter which plays perfectly to ozils strengths. Unfortunately oxocube and podolski have also had long injuries this season so our ready made replacements for our injured players have only just become available unfortunately.

Ozil works best with pace and forward runs, with our injury list this season we have played predominantly with a lot of midfield players building up to the attack with possession football.

I think there are still gaps in the arsenal squad but we have definatelym overdo n the right direction with this squad and I look forward to seeing more of ozil with Walcott and Ramsey but also ozil with a better striker than giroud I n front of him.

The whole German team where booed in the game and in general played rather poorly. Ozil was probably the most effective player on the pitch for Germany rofl.

The stick he has come in for is way over the top lol. It's all the idiots who automatically think him leaving real means he will somehow lose all his talent rofl

I've never doubted he has real talent, or expect him to lose it overnight. I might have rated him as one of the world 11, or at least in the next team. But other very talented athletes in various sports have developed what could be called attitude problems that lead teammates and/or fans to dislike them. What happens from there is very unpredictable and varies wildly. The problem can be solved in one instant of one game and never return, or it can destroy a player's usefulness as a member of the team permanently. I can't pretend to know what will happen with Ozil. But I do think, from what I can gather, he has succeeded in alienating at least a portion of his fans and teammates.

I agree the return of Ramsey and eventually Walcott, both of whom I rate highly, should help.

Scores the first, plays oxo in for the penalty, sets Sagna thru to set up the third and assists the fourth. Makes tons of chances and puts in a world class performance.

    What a player.

  15. Oh, whoopey dee!

Woezil has one great (cup) game against over-achieving Everton, and suddenly he's a world-beater!

Let's see if he can replicate that performance in the league against decent opposition, shall we. I'm betting he'll go back to just like before, and will get booed off the field by the German supporters in the world cup (assuming he even makes it on the plane).

Ozil may have turned it around. We'll see. I continue to hope he keeps starting, just like I was really worried when Wilshire was hurt--and sure enough, my fears were confirmed. Wilshire spends half the game running around and fouling, and the other half whining about real or imagined fouls committed by other players. People seem to underestimate how little that helps a team trying to win a football game. Flamini gets on with the task of protecting the back four, and walking the line between putting fear into other players and getting carded. I don't like it, but there's no doubt it helps a team win.
