In a couple of weeks (when we play chelsea) we will find out that the direct countering dosnt always work. Sometimes you need players to break down stubborn defences and Suso can be included in that kind of play aswell. Even if we are to seel him eventiually, we should sign him up and send hin on loan again as his value is only going to increase.
I agree, we'd be mad to let him go imo. When we get CL footy we need a bigger squad Suso will be very valuable to us next season as will a lot of the players on loan like Borini and Wisdom.
I agree we need an option to Coutinho when het stymied in the middle. Chelsea would easier smother Suso tbh, but maybe not. Jenners made a good point re Swans and Saints. If I was Brendan, and Suso came to me in the summer and demanded he play first team football, I'd loan him to Saints or Swansea, rather than Spain (been there, done that!). If he's good for them, we swap him on the next transfer window for Shaw plus money or Schneiderlin (or Dyer or whoever best at swansea)? If he's too good, we keep him knowing that he can perform in EPL. Win win.
I'd rather keep him but good shout on Schneiderlin not so good on Dyer don't rate him myself. The way I see it he's a great option to have as he can play wide or No. 10 so he's cover for Coutinho and can play wide right players like Suso are rare and we'd be mad to move him on unless it was for a good transfer fee and we had identified a player to come in instead of him. At this moment we have some young players who need to bed in (Alberto, Ibe) Suso is ahead of these players and will be much needed if our amount of games increases dramatically next season.
I agree he could come in handy as part of a plan B. However, Brendan is faced with a limited number of chairs on the benches. And with players who mope about and lose focus if not played enough. therefore, he needs to analyse and make hard decisions. He decided to go for Alberto last summer, and to promote Texeira this winter ... moves that suggest he's not pinning his CAM-sub hopes on Suso.
Ok, keep him on the bench, but would he mope about if he doesn't play enough? Wouldn't you rather loan him out if that's the case? If so, wouldn't you rather loan him to a PL club? What if BR can't stand for his moping about, and says 'that's it, I'm selling him' ?
Doe anyone know when his current contract runs out? He signed it in October 12. If its next summer, then keeping him will be difficult if he wont sign another. If it's longer, then the club has more chance of bringing him back.
When it comes to promising youngsters, you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. Suso was doing well but needed game time so was loaned out. Come this summer, I think the same will apply to Alberto too.
On the other hand, to counter with another analogy, it's not ideal to play musical chairs with many ambitious hatchlings. Music being the loan period and chairs being LFC.
