http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...uka-Modric-exclusive-I-want-join-Chelsea.html This sounds bad... ... what do we think? I hope he's being misquoted but this seems very ominous now. Bit gutted.
And your title is 100% correct The Daily Mail says he wants out There is no proof that Modric wants out Anyone can make up quotes "we, the British media, admit that we hate anyone other than Man Utd/Liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal might do well in the Premiership and will tap up the top players of clubs likely to break through the glass ceiling" Would Modric, if he wanted out, contact a specific newspaper instead of issuing an open statement?
A hell of a lot has apparently "not been said" there so I think it must be true. Nobody could make all that up. A sad day for us if it happens and I hope it's nearer £40 mill than £30 mill. It seems clear to me that he will be on his way........but to the wrong team.
Hopefullly that's the case... just starting to get the feeling that there's no smoke without fire etc
It's clear from that interview that he's been in communication with Chelsea. That's probably why they think that making ridiculous bids for him may have some chance of success. If we can't persuade him to change his mind, which sounds unlikely, then I'd try to sell him to either a foreign team (Real? Milan?) or City. Underhand tactics shouldn't be rewarded.
Of course not. They've been running a 'Modric to leave Tottenham!" story every day for about two weeks now, but I think that it's unlikely that they'd quote him repeatedly and extendedly if they hadn't spoken to him.
It wouldn't be the first time a newspaper made something up You have to ask why Modric, if he wanted to leave, would all of a sudden say so to one newspaper with an agenda instead of doing it in public by himself or his agent or putting in a transfer request
It's in the Telegraph too now http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...in-Chelsea-for-Champions-League-football.html
Well that's interesting Apparently Modric has EXCLUSIVE interviews with the Daily Mail and Telegraph in which he says the same thing Amazing
He's stated that he won't make a transfer request and would probably lose some sort of 'loyalty' payment if he did, so his agent probably advised him to go down this route. The Mail has been pushing for a move to Man Utd from virtually the end of the Birmingham game, so wouldn't they still be doing it, if they were making it up?
Okay so Modric has decided that he wants announce that he will "force" a move, by selling his story to the Mail, whilst claiming that he is not motivated by money? I doubt the authenticity of the quotes but if it's true, it strongly suggests that he has been tapped up, especially for City and Utd to know his desire to move yet also know that he wants to stay in London without making any contact with the club. Eitherway I'm confident. I still expect him to be a Spurs player next season, whether he wants a move or not and if he did manage to get a move I know that we will take the club for all they've got. I expect Levy will be coming out fighting, firing all guns. This is WAR people
He's also stated he is happy to stay at Spurs yet these supposed quotes say different According to the Mail in their EXCLUSIVE interview that also appeared in the Telegraph, it was conducted last night. So you have to ask why they sat on it for around 24 hours
Unless Chelsea bid somewhere around £40 million then I can't see Levy parting company with him. Modric has a 6 year contract, can't see him sulking and refusing to play for all those years. He will have to play for THFC untill his "dream club" splash some serious cash.
I'd be asking for more than £40m. They paid £50m for Torres and he's been **** for a couple of years. Both Manchester clubs appear to be interested, so we're in a position to ask for a lot of money.
£40million plus Drogba should do the trick. If Man-city get involved then that will be £60million please. Utd can do one.
In my opinion he has shown not more loyalty than Berbatov did in the same situation. So I wouldn't give him a 'Warm Welcome Back To the Lane' if he did leave which may be against what most people would say
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jun/17/luka-modric-tottenham-chelsea This news broke a few hours ago and will be the main story on tomorrow's pages. It's a shame. Missing out on 4th has cost us our best player. Well done Redknapp, with your amazing squad rotation policy.
