Do we look at proven goal-scorers like DJ Campbell and Boothroyd for next-to-nowt,or N'Gog for £5 million???Surely,we can't allow Liverpool to steal loads of cash from us for an unproven frenchman who can't score in a brothel!!
Canpbell and Boothroyd arem't the answer - even for nowt. Ngog? Who knows? Started well for Liverpool but was always gonna be second to Torres. Then what happens? Carroll and Suarez. Only 22? Give him a go - especially at £5m.
I rate Campbell more than N'Gog. Scored more goals in the league in one season than Goggles did in 3 years.
Agree with Matty....we should forget about N'Gog,sign Campbell and then look at the Marquee signings.
price should not come into it unless there is a limit If Brucie thinks there is a player that will fit into what he is trying to do at SAFC he should try his best to bring them in no matter how much they cost be it free, 500k, 5m or 15m
Marco Senna to Swansea looks a brilliant signing. Then again letting Zenden go suggests we wouldnt make a shrewd experienced signing. I really do hope we get a mid thirties veteran to help lead and steady the ship.
Campbell is a far better bet than N'Gog. He was the second top English goals scorer in a side that got relegated. He had a great season and has the sort of attitude that would turn him into a folk hero at Sunderland. N'Gog is a complete waste of money. I wouldn't take him on a free. Every time I've seen him he looks out of his depth completely.
If we buy N'Gog,we have been conned again...............Bruce's transfer dealings leave a lot to be desired.
I disagree, I think N'Gog will do canny for us, would rather have him than Bothroyd, DJ Campbell or Graham
It's a bit unfair to be comparing N'Gog against Campbell, when one played all season and the other only played a bit part in the season. You never know, he may turn out to be quite a good player with a run of games. He never got a run at Liverpool, so we can't judge him on his Liverpool form. Judge him after a season playing with us.
I agree that i would prefer N'Gogg to Boothroyd and Graham ffs even Murphy scored goals in the Championship and how ****e was he.
I agree we shout give Ngog a chance and could turn out good with a run of games but is he ever gona get that coz surely he`ll be a bench warmer bit part player just like he was at Liverpool? 5 mill and they have had our pants down! 3 mill, fair enough i recon!
I think that we should give N'gog a fair crack of the whip;I've seen glimpses of the ability that he has and hope that a regular start will bring the best out of him.My only concern is that KK doesn't see him in that light.
I touched on this in the N`gog thread, but this is the way i see it. Would Vaughan/DJ Campbell get into the Liverpool/Man U sides = not a bloody chance (maybe a CC game here and there but thats it) Did N`gog/Brown/O`Shea/Gibson get into the Liverpool/Man U sides = yes and started important games in the PL and European Competition. Would N`gog/Brown/O`Shea/Gibson get into the Blackpool side last season = undoubtfully yes, and been first team regulars. For me there is no contest, they have played with great players and played in important/huge games, they have also been coached by the best in the business.
Rather have DJ than Gog, but may be proven wrong again...But i'm not optimistic that £5m is well spent, i'll wait and see.
