Honestly, I bet if you looked at how many season ticket holders weren't going, and looked at when they first got a season ticket, it will be probably 90% new pass holders.
It's payday tomorrow for many and Saturday could be the only opportunity to get to the ticket office. Give it a couple of days. I'm sure we'll get near full capacity.
Good. 2 days of selling still to go. Very true. But Live on ITV1 does not help. At least the match fee from ITV will help pay for the lost revenue from any empty seats. ??
The Allams really haven't helped , from the name change to the complete lack of marketing of the club , but no Hull isn't a football city unlike Sunderland or Sheffield
It is a football city if you look at the number of people in pubs and clubs for any major games or internationals, far more than for rugby. Unfortunately people expect success to be as easy to come by as it is in a minor sport like RL where the Hull clubs are big fish in a puddle,(Having said that the amount of success compared to clubs from places which are little more than villages compared to Hull means the two local rugby clubs are themselves underachievers) and can't accept football is harder to achieve any success in.
Only 32 years as a season ticket holder so far. You? Other than your Liverpools, Spurs and Chelsea, Arsenal type of matches I don't recall a decent crowd in that time. If it isn't a glory team to draw the plastics, no-one comes. This is a 6th round so is likely to be decent, but if it was a better team it would have sold out on Tuesday.
Rubbish. Nowt to do with the Allams this. People in Hull dont go to Cup games, bit like yourself i reckon. Like Frank says a top four team and it would have sold out.
Been going since 1963. You said we have always had piss poor crowds for cup games. We haven't. Stoke were no more attractive team than Sunderland but we got 42,000. 32,000 against West Ham in 3rd round. 34,000 against Blackpool in 4th round, so that also disproves your point about only turning up for the big clubs. So, are you saying nowadays our fans go to watch the opposition rather than their own team? Meanwhile for a game against Charlton Athletic, Sheffield united have sold over 10,000 more tickets. People can come up with all the excuses they want but it is pathetic.
But it used to be the other way round. Crowds used to go up by as much as 100% for Cup games. Seems we have had a city interested only in seeing the big names sin e the mid 1960s, for cup games when in the lower divisions and league games in the top flight. I wonder if prospective new players will prefer a club where fans go to support their own team rather than gawp at the opposition whilst offering their own team no vocal encouragement?
I'm fairly sure we have one of the biggest youth football leagues in Europe and look at a pub any gameday. The problem isn't people not being passionate about football, it's that they don't care about City.
It's not one reason, it's a combination. Money, live on tv, general apathy, opposition, dislike of the Allam's, day of game, lack of promotion, FA cup apathy, not full first team........
I'm not making excuses. I'm saying our support is **** these days. Yes, I'm saying more people will come to watch matches with better teams so I guess you could say they aren't here to see Hull City, logically. Just remind me how many of those big crowds were in the last 32 years? Yes, we may have had decent crowds before then but I think 30+ years is a reasonable period of time to suggest we have **** cup support.
But how come other clubs in the QFs are now taking it seriously? If we win, would we sell all our allocation for the semis?
The problem is its on itv i am sure it would have sold out if it wasn't. I also think if we had have been in the championship or Div 1 or 2 then again we would have sold out but may be fans are taking it for granted playing these top teams every week. it should have sold out there is no doubt about that it looks like it will be around 20,000 so get your heads around it no one can do anything about it just get there who ever is going and give extra support to the team. i am sure there will be thousands and thousands willing City on in living rooms pubs ect some who should be there but are properly gathering in groups and family's with a few beers because its not often we have ever been on a tv channel that everyone can watch. I will be there willing the lads on i bet some of you on here who can afford it and live in the hull area won't be and if so please give your reasons, Is it Money? chance to watch us on ITV or you have no interest in the cup it will be interesting to read the true views of fans not going
I reckon the baton that got passed from generation to generation was imperceptibly dropped between 1978 and 2002. Kids grew up without being taken to BP. If you supported City you were a freak and most people found summat else to do. We now have adult males who were reared in households where the baton was not passed on, who never got taken to City and who have no idea the baton even exists. Both Sheff Utd and Sunderland never had such a long period of dross. SAFC had one season in div 3, we had many plus quite a few in div 4. The Blunts had a much better time of it too- they both had success when we had just slow decline. Not excusing it or saying it's the only cause, but it's one reason I reckon.
