    Hull

Go north and discover why Hull was granted the honour of being the UK City of Culture for 2017. With a heritage of art, poetry and music, Hull is one of the unexpected treasures of Yorkshire. It’s a great city for lively and unique venues, from little art galleries to late music clubs, with a picturesque Old Town to explore. Hull’s position tucked in on the Humber estuary on the east coast also means the walking and cycling trails and expansive views of the Humber Bridge Country Park are easily accessible for a short trip out of the city.

I have a mate in Houston that can trace his heritage back to Hull.
Him and his wife visited a few years ago and loved it here.

Cue out-of-date jokes from people who have either never been here or been here once...

Come and visit Beverley, too, guys :)

I saw a Spanish family taking photos in front of the Minster t'other day. Was very heartening to see.

Glad they narrowed it down for you. Only 3.8 million square miles, guess anywhere will do.

I was wondering that. Why is Hull the only city? Why are the rest countries or, in the case of Pembrokeshire, counties?

    EDIT: Oh, and Queensland.

Been to both and Wales is better imo.

There's just as much to do in Wales as Scotland.

Don't get me wrong, Scotland has some cracking spots.

Don't do this to me folks, after a lifetime of seeing Hull kicked in the kna**ers time and time again by all and sundry in the press, scorned, rediculed and generally trodden on I'm not sure I can come to terms with people actually liking the place. I often read the comments sections on the HDM and never fail to despair at some of the negative comments at even the hint of some good news about Hull. The joke from years ago about 'Hull is not exactly the end of the earth but you can see it from there' has always stuck in my mind but now Hull as a tourist spot? I hope better times are around the corner but it may have come to late for me to see it.

I wouldn't say we are a tourist spot, but I would definitely not say we are the worst City in the country either, we are far from it.

Here's an impression of a new ampitheatre & centre planned for an old dry dock in Hull opposite The Deep.
