Well, I don't know, because its difficult to compare two different player-types. I think Soldado need more time to acclimate himself in the BPL. Ãzils biggest problem is the way he looks on the pitch. He looks lethargic like he doesn't want to be on the pitch.
Despite looking very lethargic he gets around the pitch very well, bayern was agr eat example, he was slated for being lazy and not up for putting the effort in but he covered the third most ground of anyone on the pitch. Agree about soladado I think he needs some time and maybe he will work better when the system is tweaked etc... He was quality in Spain. I have to assume most of the comments (not yours) about ozil on this thread are meant as a wind up otherwise I worry for the intelligence of the board! (Though it could well just be that most of the people commenting on him don't watch much of arsenal and have formed their opinions based off the poor media).
I thought the offside goal might have helped him because his touch was good and he would have noted that. The goal being disallowed does not take away the quality of the finish and it must be encouraging for him to see it go into the net.
Right said. I think it's a big change for him, because la liga is much slower than bpl and you don't have to be so physically strong down there. Furthermore, Spurs aren't that good this season and they need to improve their game and grow as a team, because they spent so much money on new lads and finally got a new headcoach. Finally, we can judge him next season.
That's the trouble for me. Wenger's making Ozil run around too much meaning that he's tiring and getting pulled out of the areas of the pitch he wants to play in. When he was at Real you never saw him coming deep and taking the pass from the centreback or taking it off a defensive midfielder's toes like he does at Arsenal. Ozil got bags of assists and goals in La Liga because he was getting the ball just outside the area and sliding brilliant passes behind the defence or taking a couple of touches to get space and getting the shot away. Most of this thread has been tongue in cheek but I sincerely believe that Wenger is to blame for Ozil not looking like the best number 10 in the World, which he was before he joined. I'm not a football expert so I accept that maybe Wenger's doing it for the best of the team but all I see is Ozil getting the ball in the wrong areas of the pitch all too often.
The loss of Ramsey has been a big blow. He was immense and the best CM in the league this season before the injury. He was the man getting the ball of the CB's and controlling the play, but since his injury, the likes of Ozil have had to drop deeper to get the ball because the trio of Wilshere,Arteta and Flamini have to not been able to dictate play. Also, Ramsey covered so much ground, and therefore the likes of Ozil did not have to. His loss has been huge, but thankfully he is back in full training now.
At least one bullet dodged by Moyes - £40m+ saved and where would he have played him? At least Mata was a few pennies less and has a much better attitude.
Without Ramsey and Walcott ozil a style has had to be altered for the best of the team. But it. Has meant he looks less effective. It's no coincidence that his poor form has coincided with these players being injured. P.s. Good to see some sensible debate
When is he back? Any idea? I haven't paid much attention but he seems to have been out for ages. Was it one injury or a bunch of them?
Hahaha, thats me that is! Although i'm not sure i've commented too much on this thread, although i'm in my 30s so a bit senile now.
It was just the one injury, really unfortunate. He's supposedly back within a couple of weeks, the Chelsea game has been thrown about as his possible return.
do you think he'll hit the ground running or is he one of those players that takes time to get back up to speed (like Lennon)? Again i wasn't paying that much attention but he was getting a bit of flack for a bit after coming back after his leg break wasn't he? Until he turned into Superman this season that is.
It's the same section of fans who slated Ramsey, Walcott and now on occasion ozil or other players. There are plenty more of us who don't agree with the minority of stupid posters.
It took him a LONG time to recover from his leg break, but that was a horror injury breaking his leg in 6 separate places, it shook his confidence. Now he has lots of confidence and I'd imagine he will return to form far quicker this time around but may take a game or two where he is off the pace to get bk into things.
Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil, 25, was jeered by Germany fans during the nation's 1-0 friendly win over Chile in Stuttgart. (Source: Gaurdian) Poor old Woezil! Greed got the better part of him, and it's all gone pear-shaped!
"Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil, 25, was jeered by Germany fans during the nation's 1-0 friendly win over Chile in Stuttgart." Do the Germans also not like the Goons ??
Well, they obviously see Woezil as a failure at the Library, and probably think he is a complete twat for having left Real. In that, we are united.
"and probably think he is a complete t**t for having left Real" Do their supporters actually care now they have a shiny new Bale ??
Real fans won't, but the German fans obviously do! Exciting, all-conquering Real or "getting top 4 is our annual DVD" Arsenal? Hm. Let me think about that one, for a bit....
