That was different. The connotation had been applied by that point & given the sensitivity of the occasion there's no defending it's use on that day, in that context imo.
The Hillsborough association is not one only made by LFC fans http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-between-Liverpool-and-Manchester-United.html Even to type these words takes the writer into a world of crushing cynicism; nihilism, even. It is a race to the bottom, taken up by some United fans in last weekend’s home game against Wigan. Even as the horrors of the Hillsborough cover-up were being sifted, the chant rang out: “Always the victims, never your fault.” Conversely Rotheram says: “I got texts and messages from United fans saying that was a very small minority. The majority shushed them down. It was 96 lives. To still be singing ‘it’s never your fault’ - it really wasn’t their fault.”
Merely semantics old boy You 'asked' if a mod could look at it. You then 'stated' in a separate sentence that it should be closed if it stayed off topic
You think Im pretending to be offended? You're so far up your own arse its unreal For ridiculously obvious reasons it can easily be interpreted as a dig at Hillsborough and if you cant see that you're as a blind as a bat Also can you find a quote that had our chairman blaming your new best friends for Heysel? And save the inevitable condescending tone in your reply for someone who gives a ****
You should all be f**king ashamed of yourselves. (LFC Fans) Whenever ANYTHING is said about your club, regardless of what it is.....the response is: "But.....but....Hillsborough!" Seriously?! I put it to you that it is YOU guys who use the deaths of 96 people to score points in football discussions. There are always gonna be some idiots from every club who make twisted jokes about tragedies or sing chants. But why do you try so hard to tie every single slight to Hillsborough? As proved in this thread, there have been numerous other instances in which Liverpool have played the victim (this thread can now be added to that list). As for your BS moaning about the word "always", I seem to remember hearing a few chants about Chelsea at Anfield. Remember this one..... "Same old Chelsea......ALWAYS cheating" So we ALWAYS cheat yeah? No, you said always, so you are saying in every single match since 1905 Chelsea have cheated, since we are taking the words so literally.....
Put your handbag away ffs. I've explained my view on it, so I've nothing else to add. As for John Smith, he was widely reported at the time to have talked to reporters about "southern accents in the stands" & "Chelsea" - or do you think we've been making that up for 29 years? p.s. You patently do give a f**k" which is why you had a 'moment' and then flounced off hoping to have had the last word f**king child.
We seldom agree on anything but you nailed it right on the head here. Whenever they are losing an argument or have been made to look stupid THEY raise Hillsboro and then try and twist it to you having a go at them. It is a disgraceful thing to do and it is they who tarnish the memory.
If you read this thread back it unfortunately backs your point. It was a sensible / light hearted discussion about FFP & the RS, until #22 when DR piped up. He was sent packing so then scuttled off and came back later on and played his 'joker' #37 I find it nauseating, that it's seemingly 'wheeled out' as a form of last resort by some of them. Fortunately only a few, but it's twisted.
Pipe down son, you contribute nothing in terms of debate, either on the OP in this thread or on any other I've ever read, you're nothing more than an argumentative vacuous idiot. Are you denying Smith ever mentioned 'Southern accents' then?
It was you who sent the thread off on the Hillsborough tangent, that is indisputable, but hardly a shocker that you're looking to pin the blame on someone else.....
I remember when the usual reply was 18-5. That went by the wayside for obvious reasons so they had to wheel out something. They pretend to be outraged but fact is they are the one's who bring it up first time and time again.
Apparently only someone with 'kopite behaviour' would not consider post #9 to be "sensible / light hearted"
