I agree with Ciaran - of course Putin is in the wrong but it is cringeworthy to see US and UK condemnation as if butter wouldn't melt. Talk of sanctions makes me laugh as well - I don't think they will dare do anything drastic because Russia will just impose its own.
France:Building 2 aircraft carriers for them, don't wont to rock the boat Germany:30% of their gas comes from Russia plus they had problems with gas in the past Britian:Trillions of Russian money going through the City of London ATM,some good, some bad But it looks like he's Putin the squeeze on!
They'll make big noises and then come up with something utterly meaningless - a few diplomats expelled from each side maybe. If it gets protraced (i.e. anything mre than 2 years) I understand that Cameron is intending to instruct the 4 FAs in the UK to ensure we don't qaulify for the Russian world cup as a mark of protest - that should be easy enough to pull off
Uh ooh! There is a leaked intercepted phone conversation between the Estonian Foreign minister and Baroness Catherine Ashton. Some interesting transcripts from this have emerged, especially pertaining to the "snipers" during the violent coup, as well as the background of the characters who have taken over as a result
I can honestly say I have never purposefully sought out to look at RT. Hadn't even heard of the thing until it was either you or Toby mentioned it. The recording and transcript popped up on my YouTube feed if you really must know. I couldnt be bothered trying to post the link through the app considering the woes I had this morning with image url links. As RT is undoubtedly this big pro-Russian source it wouldn't be surprising that they would jump on a gift like this in record time.
Anyway, its not exactly breaking news. There was footage on the BBC of a protestor with a scoped rifle. I don't doubt that the protestors did shot back or shot first. Whats not in doubt is the 88 people gunned down by indiscriminate firing from the police. Theres footage of that as well Or the numerous beatings before everything went really sour.
Well according to the Estionian minister for Foreign Affairs the pro-maidan snipers were shooting not only at the police but also the protesters as means of provocation.
My niece has met Putin, he was a big fan of hers, and asked to met her when he was over on a state visit a few years ago
