He will though. You and everyone else knows this wont last too long. Either a miracle happens or united get someone a little more forward thinking in. Theres an awful lot of attacking ability at United which, under the right direction, can be extremely prolific. We currently have a manager who for whatever reason, doesnt appear to have the ability or the balls, to do that. Before you make a claim about how the team lacks this or that, I know. Any manager will get funds, its inevitable. So enjoy it while it lasts. Perhaps it will be 20 years or perhaps its just another one of those one season blips before we dominate the next 10 again.... Remember those?
A Blip?! This is more of a Blippety Blop Blop. United havent finished outside the top 3 in 22 years. Even their "Blips" (****ing hate that word, wtf does it even mean) have been no more than rebuilding periods and the biggest gap was 2003-2007 where they didnt win a title between those seasons. I said from the start that this would be different.....I dont think Man Utd are necessarily gonna turn gash and win no titles for 20 odd years like Liverpool, but the period of 20 years in which you dominated is over now I feel.
I don't see how any manager can shoehorn all of Van Persie, Mata, Rooney and Januzaj into the team and that's ignoring a £27m signing, Welbeck, Kagawa, Young etc etc. Mata was a ludicrous signing given the players United have, the weaknesses in the squad and the way Moyes plays.
Willian is the Brazilian equivalent of James Milner. For an attacking midfielder he is lacking in the quality department but makes up for it abit with his fantastic work rate
couldnt agree more. i am a fan of mata but hes just not what we needed and at the price we paid for him it makes it a rather awful signing.
It is incredible how a manager with a decade of experience can get it so wrong, when he has inherited a very good if ageing squad of serial champions, pots of money, a winning DNA and supportive fans, owners and media. He has no excuses to fail
Flogging a dead horse there Drogs. He has a point about Will I An though, typical Maureen player unlike Mata. Great engine, decent touch and pass and more brawn than outright skill (nothing wrong with that the way you set up). You lose a little in an attacking sense but gain a lot in terms of solidity. That's something Uniteds midfield (the majority of which has been **** since well before Moyes got the job) completely lacks. Their midfield is even less solid than my lot (in fact it's as wobbly as a blancmange) and has far less attacking instincts now under Sir David even with Mata.
hes better than milner, like a younger james with a few tassels and baubels. hes brazilian so naturally he'll have a bit of flair about him. but Milner-esq - yes!
This is the United board though...where utterly ridiculous things are being spouted more and more often this season UIR is even expecting a miracle I see (starting to sound like us Reds more and more each day ). I always felt Milner needed to develop so many areas of his game that he needed to play week in week out so then he joined Citeh and his career was mapped out from that very day....limited. Will I An is already at the stage Jose wants him at (not one for development really is he Maureen) and fits much better than Mata did. United have a good player on their hands too so I guess it was a deal that suited both although I'm surprised they didn't cash in on Kagawa as soon as they bought in JM (possibly being CL cup tied held down his value mid-season).
I think some managers could but it depends on their style of play. For example, we regularly play Suarez (Rooney), Sturridge (RvP), Coutinho (Mata) and Sterling (Januzai). No way the four can fit under Moyes though.
2 goals and 3 assists for Willian in 18 games. So if his influence isn't defensive, then what is his influence? Not knocking the guy, as he is effective from a defensive point of view, just don't think he's a top class attacking midfielder. Park Ji Sung is another good example, we all loved him here, as he worked so hard, and helped us win so many big games with his energy, that never seemed to run out, but none of our fans would ever be delusional enough to make out he was some sort of world class footballer. You can't have a team full of lazy luxury players, you need some to do the donkey work. The thing is with Chelsea though they have a team full of hard workers, and not enough quality, hence there lack of goals this season
if we had a player of gerrards quality and another in hendersons form the other four would be doing the business.
If you had said to me this time last year, that we'd be 7th in the table, and crying out for a couple of midfielders like Gerrard and Henderson I'd of laughed at you
For now, nominally, those two roles could and should be filled by Carrick and Fellaini. There is no reason at all why the other four can not function together.
Henderson is the main one as he's the one with the legs. We do miss Allen / Lucas (both have good engines) at times too though so it can depend on the opposition. Basically, if a team fields four attacking players like this, the central midfield needs to be strong and mobile, especially if you've got attacking fullbacks too. If you play a standard back four that stay sat in then one holding player would be enough meaning you could have five attacking players but that creates flat lines and dated tactics IMO.
That pairing lacks energy / movement / pace to be a central two IMO. Both are good if used in the right way, just not convinced a pairing is it.
the four WILL function together, soon as we have two better players than carrick and fellaini in there respective posistions. there just not good enough to be in the starting 11. they are good squad players to have when ur main two r needing rested or injured, but we need two better younger players and rid of wasters like clevs and anderson.
