.......................Cesar................... Boswinga.... Onuoha ....Samba .....Fabio Townsend....Faurlin ...Mbia/Granero/Diakite......Taarabt ............Remy........Cisse........ This is the team that we could have been putting out this time last year, and a manager with any charisma and vision would have got the 90% of potential we needed from each of them to stay up with ease. But H couldn't be bothered. Why on earth should we expect him to achieve promotion with a vastly inferior and, by the look of it, barely better motivated bunch? I've been kidding myself. I still think this league is poor quality, but I've never denied its very competitive. Too competitive for some of our set up, I fear, solid professionals trying to do their best every week led by tactically limited but well organised management teams who drill their teams well are proving challenging, nnow our mystique has evaporated. Amazingly we are 4th. 42 points still to play for. WAKE UP LADS FFS!!!!!
I really don't think that expecting a professional footballer to at least get himself fit is an unreasonable expectation, especially considering the obscene amount of money that these prima donnas earn!
I think that by highlighting one bit you take it out of context, but anyway neither do I Col, but Harold obviously does, otherwise he'd do a Pulis and fine him for unacceptable behaviour. Thank God I don't understand what goes on in the so called minds of some footballers, but that's what H is paid for and he obviously can't, or can't be bothered to, motivate them. Perhaps like you he thinks "they are highly paid professionals, they should look after their fitness and give their all every week spontaneously" And he and you might well be right, but when its obviously not happening it's HIS JOB to sort it out. It obviously never crosses his mind that he's taking £3m a year from TF, has brought in a number of players to the club who are not delivering, and he owes it to his boss to get it sorted. Instead we can look forward to more bleating about injuries. 42 points. PULL YOUR FINGER OUT REDKNAPP!!!! I'm a bit combative tonight, we still have a chance and I desperately want us to take it, but I don't get any feeling of urgency from the management.
It shouldn't be his choice, its the managements fault for not having target weights for each player. Some clubs fine their players for being too fat (not Norwich or Wigan obviously) to the point where players will even shave their heads on weigh in day. Yet another redknapp failing.
I completely agree that it's also down to Redknapp and his staff to ensure that players are fit and I'm sure Harry simply doesn't care enough himself to do anything about it. I certainly don't think that it's just down to the player and that the management should just "expect" them to do it. Equal responsibility imo.
You know what? I just despair at how backward some team sports are when it comes to fitness training, football and cricket immediately spring to mind. On the other hand you've got NFL, NBA, and top grade rugby both union and league far in advance regarding personal conditioning, even AFL has got it's act together in the last ten years. I just look at some of the ridiculous warm up routines that footballers go through pre match, too many to list here but professionally I usually find myself saying, 'what the f... is he doing that for?' They're doing the same boll ocks that Simon Stainrod was doing when I first watched the R's Over here everybody panics about Michael Clarke's back, will it or won't it be okay for a whole test match, but honestly you just watch how he slumps about in his seat, massive kyphosis going on and so it's not surprising what happens. A bit of tuition and a bit of effective core conditioning would help massively.
Correct me if I'm wrong but a common trait about todays players is injuries time and time again. I'm told and I'm sure we have noted that players of yesteryear didn't train too hard, weren't as fit as todays' players BUT weren't susceptible to injuries like todays' players. I'm told / have read ........... and so that the more players train, yes their fitness improves but they are more likely to brake down. Think of a race horse compared to a general horse, the same applies with players. Example, swimmers are super fit and they get colds and so on all the time ............. their breaking point is very fine. Your thoughts?
Thats true but look at Krankys chins, we cant do that much training! Plus the on pitch failings suggest they do bugger all as well. Muscles injuries point to clear failings in the coaching.
So every hamstring strain/tear is the fault of the coaching staff ??? Players have to take responsibility as well. My one and only hammy, was in the middle of a game. Just bad luck
Also Bothroyd, (treated like ****) and overlooked this year for 2 old b******* when his last 90 mins V Soton last year was his best game and he scored winner and put real shift in, but he got about 10 mins after that.
1 or 2 a month is bad luck, 8 a month means something is seriously wrong. Its not just one month either, its every single month which means it has to be the training or lack of it.
But it happens, numerous teams per season, get the "injury bug", it can be the main reason for relegation, or missing out on promotion. Remember Rob Green's interview about the amount of training he is doing, its not him by himself. **** happens
Traore has trapped a nerve in his back during the leeds game which caused his calf to spasm but due to using all subs played on. This is not bad luck it makes no sense. I think we need to get some rfu coaches in like arsenal maybe get prav mathema back as well.
Lighten up KPD just a leg pull. You are making the same excuses as Harold does. Little Jamie is his son, Jamie Redknapp, who makes excuses for his Dad on the telly.
a crises happens for a few games, this has happened all season. I bet you think Johnsons injury history is just bad luck as well.
No it is not, warm ups, exercises and warm downs are vital for preventing injuries. The average age of our management team is in the 60s so its clear they are stuck in the past. We never had this under other managers averaging two new muscle injuries a week.
Agree with bully boy here. Not only the majority of our players are old so is the whole coaching staff and the manager. Redknapp, Jordan and Bond are hardly the representatives of the modern football training.
