By relinquishing the captaincy from Suarez, I think I've tinkered my way out of the Cottage Cup to Fred's Boys. Why is this newsworthy? Well it appears my opposition gave up on the league and his team a long time ago. In fact, minus his injuries and non-starting players - the team only has 6 scoring players (and one of those players scored 0)! I need a miracle from Sunday's fixtures to claw back a 20+ point deficit. I'm now routing for the underdog and hoping Fred's boys wins the cup!
The Cottage Cup - semi finals Results: please log in to view this image Another disappointing week for the Fulhamish connections, but the one team with faith in multiple Fulham players (Fred's Boys) came good again. Meanwhile the run of It's A Taarabt! has come to an end and it's probably worth noting that if Nolan had been substituted for Sidwell or Parker... Anyways, congratulations to Mrs Cookie-6262 and Fred's Cultured Left Foot who will contest the final of The Cottage Cup in two weeks time. Louise's Legends have scored consistently well throughout and enter the final as favourites, but Fred's confidence in the Cottagers will no doubt endear him to some. Commiserations to Bandit and BobbyHerrera who were the heaviest scorers in the competition, but fell foul of "any given Saturday". So it comes down to Louise's Legends v Fred's boys. I want to emphasise that this game will occur in gameweek 30 rather than next week. Best of luck to both teams, may the winner be the most Fulhamish!
Felt sick when I saw the scores. 3rd highest scorer of the week and still lose out. No chance of winning league either. Gutted.
It's a good thing I didn't do odds on those semi finals, Bandit. All the signs pointed to you and Bobby winning through. Don't forget though that we have one more cup to come - the Zdenek Grygera Bowl.
Overwhelemed by my stunning cup run, I have decided to adjust my team for the first time since the January wild card!! - I was embarassed to see that one of my team had left Southampton by mutual consent in January!! This will undoubtedly lead to me loosing woefully after getting to the final without changing a thing - which I would see as the most Fulhamish thing to do and should secure me the cup!!! However I am hoping my run of sucess from the bottom of the table will be mirrored by the boys in white begining with 3 points at Cardiff on Saturday - there is always a hope - COYW!!
Don't give up just yet Bandit. Next Gameweek (31) has 15 matches with the likes of Man City, Liverpool and Newcastle playing twice. That gives us all a great chance of knocking up a huge GW points tally and winning the Marathonbet cup. I believe FulhamIreland is currently the high score holder with 106 points. Select your team and captain carefully, and you could take home some silverware this season!
Tension mounting here with the Cottage Cup - when is the big announcement?? - will I be interviewed by Gary Lineker??
The Cottage Cup Final Congratulations to Fred's Boys who sealed the Cottage Cup in very Fulhamish fashion. Commiserations to Louise's Legends who performed very well throughout the tournament but ultimately paid the price for leaving out those Fulhamish players. We have one more cup to go (in addition to the MarathonBet Trophy for highest weekly score): the Zdeněk Grygera Bowl. This will start in gameweek 32 and rules will be posted over the next week or so. Hope you enjoyed this cup guys, almost as much as I enjoyed my first Fulham league game of 2014 on Saturday! COYW!
Surlyc - thanks for organising a great competition. For teams like me - languishing at the bottom - it gave me something to compete in. And with my Fulhamish points making the difference, I see it as an omen. A spectacular run, starting at City. We have faith in Felix - COYW
Well done, Fred. It's great that the most Fulhamish team won this one. Hearty congrats. As you say, let's hope the boys can emulate your underdog success in the next few weeks.
Tootif has 115 points currently this game week. I think it might be safe to say that the MarathonBet Trophy will be decided this week!
Early signs seem to point to BobbyHerrera breaking the 150 barrier this week, pipping several teams by a handful of points to take the new single week high score... further details once they are confirmed.
A fantastic GW for many teams. My mediocre defence let me down, resulting in 153 points. Congratulations to Louise's Legends for clocking up a magnificent 163 GW points thanks to super-sub Eriksen, who chipped in with 18 points. Barring a mad cricket score future GW, this should seal the Marathonbet Cup!
How can I be disappointed with 125pts for a week? I carefully constructed a team where all 11 would play twice, then saw four of them get left out (or on the bench) for at least one of their two matches. Bah! Well done to Louise's Legends.
This week is week 32 so the start of the Zdenek Grygera bowl. Do we know in advance what the two letters are for this week or does that get announced afterwards?
Is there a 'booby' prize? Two of my players played the two games this week and managed to amass the princely total of -1. How is that possible? Both play for the same team - blooming Arsenal! Apar from that, really well done Louise's Legends. Wondered why Cookie had been a bit quiet this week.
