It was just brought up on Sky as a possible punishment, although I can't see it happening myself...If it did happen, I promise not to laugh though..<whistle>

The way the media are going on with this it won't be long before they are crying out for the death penalty, the vast majority ignore the provocation by Meyler and bang on about Managers being role models etc, I never remember as a kid thinking I want to be like the Manager it was always the players on the pitch, when you had a kick around it was always wanting to be Super Mac not the Manager, even today I doubt kids care that much about the Manager.

As many members of the media lynch mob have pointed to Pardew's record of beating up officials and threatening behaviour towards pensioners I wonder why they have ignored the actions of some of the wonderful on field ambassadors of this sport, Lee Cattermole currently has a collection of 7 Red Cards and will no doubt be gathering more over his stellar career, as a repeat offender I don't remember the media going into a frenzy and demanding his expulsion from the game, Kevin Nolan 6 Reds, 2 this season should he not have been banned for 10 or more matches and on it goes.

What a pile of ****e..Meyler was just going to retrieve the ball and Pardew got in his way..A substantial points deduction is the only punishment that fits the crime..This is by no means the 1st time he has made a prick of himself on the touchline..

Personally I found Meyler's shove the more contentious. I appreciate it's not the most severe of the two actions, but putting your hands on a manager? I mean, I haven't seen an utter lack of respect from a player pretty much ever. His team were getting well beaten at the time, they weren't on the crest of any wave, it was a throw-in near the touchline. He should have done all he could to avoid running into Pardew, but he didn't, he simply shoved him aside. The fact it's a booking tells you that you can raise your hands and push non-playing staff and the worst you'll get is a yellow card. It's completely wrong, Pardew's foolishness has detracted from what was already - in my opinion - a very serious offence, but by the player.

What makes it slightly laughable is the fact that at least two players, Jonjo Shelvey being the worst I can recall, have done the same this season and escaped punishment. They didn't get sent off during the game as officiating is - for me - at an all time low, and the press conveniently couldn't be bothered to put them on trial.

Should I put a Meyler poll up? Seriously though it is quite unbelievable the willingness to ignore Meyler instigating the trouble with his conduct. Granted you can't really expect any better once you've had Clattermole as teammate and spent time at Sunderland, they are a disgrace of a club. Look at their current manager, he ****s on oppo floors the dirty animal.

I personally thought the ref got it right, a sending off for Pards and a yellow for Meyler. Pards to face a 3 game ban would be sensible.

Back to the witch hunt though, I fancy seeing death by garrote.

Willingness to ignore his actions from such ironic luminaries as Robbie Savage and Graeme Souness, for crying out loud. Actually, perhaps it's not ironic at all - as players, they would both have most likely shoved/kicked/pummeled Pardew out of the way to get to the ball, so perhaps they saw Meyler as showing a bit of "passion".....

Back on topic, though, I'd like to see him tried like a witch. Purely and simply so that I can embed this video:

Brilliant from @SkySportsNews "Coming up, Roy Keane's opinion of Pardew incident".

Roy's view "No comment. None of my business".

Roy probably feels Pardew should have went for the old Haaland leg breaker.

Non standard eh. I wonder if their punishment will mirror our poll?

They'll have no interest in doing so too because they have been handed a "feel good about the FA" bone by the media.

Bah, non - il faut que nous utilisons Madame Guillotine, n'est-ce pas? Si on va changer un equipe originellement anglais, comme Newcastle United, à un equipe français il faut absolument que on va lui punir dans un manniere suffisament français!
