you forget the 20,000+ who were actually at the game, we were very happy with the display and superior dominance, but due to the obvious fatigue and a penalty which some are saying it was not then palace could not have complained if we won 5-0 at least, Not bad for a team out of sorts...The lads had a good reception after the match and that don't indicate monk did bad at all. ..You see lads those of us that attend matches have a better understanding of what is going on and we can see the effort the players are putting in and the superb job monk is doing on the touch line and trundle. The lads did everything to win but we just could not finish, there was only one team out there today for nearly all game and there was only one winner, Unfortunately chico gave away a penalty and we drew, we did not lose we drew that gave us a point instead of 3 points that the lads deserved...it was a very lucky day for palace....This football we are seeing is far better than anything we saw under laudrup and that is remarkable when you consider how long he has had the job and who we have played against.....Thats why there is such a good atmosphere at the liberty...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM4eSpyhz9g Refreshingly honest interview by TP! Top man - Alan Pardew, look and learn.
If that dodgy ref m.dean hadnt given a wrong pen then a 1-0 win to us under the curcumstances - illness etc, we would be praising the lads not slating them including Monk ?
For me once the keeper starts to come he's got to come at a 100mph all the way, see it through, take the man out as well if he needs to. As you say, he could see everything (that's why he came, the perceived danger)....when he changes his mind he is way off his line in no man's land. Unusual bad goalkeeping from Vorm. ...but I don't hold him responsible for the result. Monk bares most of the responsibility.
Was going to write a long analysis but you've said it here Only thing I'd add is that Monk shouldn't have played the first team at Liverpool....poor management of resources, which contributed to today and Thursday's results. Like you I won't be getting on his back, though I'm pretty sure he's not the man to lead us into next season. Without getting personal, some of you really make me laugh....so predictable
By the way dai , don't blame Chico's quick thinking defending for anything. How was he suppose to know the ref would blunder the call. He thought we had to defend for 10 minutes a man down and stopped the goal on a play he didn't create. Smooth train of thought I'd say.Above all , I hope Chico sticks around .
One more thing regarding the issue I mentioned above. Palace weren't set up to attack in that 1st half seemingly, but on MOTD Pulis seemed to indicate that he thought otherwise and took full responsibility for the way we played them off the park. In the second half he made the substitutions I thought he might, but much more importantly he changed the shape of the team. Monk didn't respond at all. His 2nd half substitutions were like for like. Lita for Bony and Amat for Ash....this despite the game swinging in Palace's favour.
Dai, what utter nonsense. They outplayed us second half and to assume you know how the 20,000 fans feel is just daft. They surely can't all be as blinkered as you. I know family and friends at the game weren't thrilled with the second half. Player tiredness was not an excuse you extended to ML, so it can't be used here. Monk appears out of his depth as manager but I believe will have value to offer in a coaching role. Tactically today, Pulis taught him a lesson.
You NEVER took "into account the games they have had to play in a short space of time" under Laudrup, so why make the excuse for Monk? All you did was open your gob and bleat, bleat, bleat, moan, moan, moan about Laudrup. NO MENTION of a heavy fixture list then was there? Laudrup had to juggle Thursday, Sunday football from the very beginning of the season and most of the time he had to do it with a heavily depleted squad whilst being knifed in the back at the same time. Anyway, I've wasted enough time on you. Just read what the OTHER posters think of what you've written in this thread. I don't need to add anything more.
some of you had better gain some knowledge about the team you are suppose to support even if it is from your armchairs .....Monk is the manager and he will be the manager next season and beyond so you need to deal with it as your the only ones complaining and that's because you don go and see what amount of work is being done...we were fantastic today for a team that has played at a very high level against some of the biggest clubs in the world over the past 10 days....Laudrup could not do that in a million years........Instead of moaning about something you know nothing about try and be a proper fan and go and see for yourselves...Most of you can and you know who you are too....
ivor you can get to a match...try it instead of spouting rubbish like you always do...we laugh at your comments down here as its obvious that you have plenty to say but you are never there and its typical type of crap from a suppose fan that never goes.. what a fan you are....go away and learn a thing or two about what goes on and maybe ,just maybe we will take you seriously...you don't fool us i have told you before....now go away son ....
You're like a cornered rat. Who the **** is "we" and "us", the players and staff? Seek help you deluded fantasist.
I do wish you'd stop speaking for everyone , 7 shots on target each with 11 corners to our 1 would indicate your speaking out of your arse and Palace out sung us , good stats not everything in the garden is rosy ,and if Trundle has the ear of Monk then god help us .thats like letting a kid run riot in a sweet shop , only on team out there yesterday f me ,you didn't go did you
I used to think Dai would say things just to get a rise out of people, a sort of 'test designed to provoke an emotional response.' However after some of his posts on this thread, I think it's time he got help. How can we organise an intervention for him ? In his prediction for this match he had us down for a 3-0 win..... if he is all knowing about everything football related, why isn't that the score ?
Totally unacceptable, patronising post, targeting a long established, much respected contributor to this Forum.
I lost my connection (site down?) at the end of the game yesterday and having caught up now it would appear Dai's finally teetered off the edge and is falling down a bottomless chasm. Dai get a grip please! Such a bizarre game. So dominant first half but couldn't string two passes together second half. How much this was down to "the bug" is anybody's guess (but probably not much) and I won't repeat what everyone has already said but Monk needs to wise up fast with some of his substitutions and tactical naivety. There can be no excuses whatsoever for the next two games and I have no doubt we'll stay up, so for me it's now all about finishing as strongly as possible.
