Is our squad good enough to compete with in League and Champion League together? How many players should we buy? (Dont want to do a Spurs and buy to many players) I assume the Engine of the team will need 2-3 players correct?, as likes of Stevie and Henderson can keep running for 2 hard games per week Therefore we need 2 midfielders, 1 attacker and 1 defender? 4 sounds ok amount, not to less and not to much. Including return of Suso How many good class players should Rodgers sign and in what position?
I think we will need a bigger squad to deal with the extra games and probably some more experience. I think we have plenty of players who are well suited to the CL. Borini, Suso and Ilori returning from loan will help out a lot I think they are well suited to CL football and Borini's grit and work rate will really help us out a lot. I think ultimately we just need to strengthen all the areas we have discussed on here and hope that no one significant leaves. Mingolet, Jones - this is ok Johnson, Flanagan, Enrique, Wisdom - Add a top quality LB, replace Johnson if he leaves Sakho, Skrtel, Agger, toure, Ilori - I think this is not to bad. But 1 in 1 out could happen if the right quality is available. Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Allen, Coutinho - Add another top quality CM Suso, Texeira, Alberto - All youngsters but no big deal. I expect Konoplyanka to sign. Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Borini, Ibe - Decent quality and depth.
We need quite a few reinforcements to be able to compete on a number of fronts (I'll begin with the highest priority): - At least 3 new defenders: 2 new full backs and a RCB. Our fullbacks are a big weak spot for us and we need fullbacks who can balance defending and attack. Montoya, Oliver Sorg, Gotoku Sakai and Ricardo Rodriguez should be on our list. Dede and Hoewdes should be our first choice for RCB. - 2 new midfielders: 1 DM and 1 box to box. We need real protection in front of our defence in the form of Fernando, Bender, M'Vila. Then we need a player like Gundogan as the box to box mid. - Then 1-2 more attackers in the form of Kono, Griezemann to give us more options at the top. I would stress that all of these signings should be good enough to challenge for a place in the first team.
We don't need to be Man City to buy the players I have mentioned. These are young, talented players who have yet to reach their peak therefore we won;t be paying premium prices. And if we get CL, the owners will be spending big.
based on the fact we wasn't in the cl and don't have the extra money to spend yet. for me i think we need about 6 players, of course we don't have the squad for cl football as we aren't in it, so why have a squad ready to compete in something you are not in, waste of money.
and i was justifying why we are currently only doing loan deals, why do you think it would be any dif next season if we got cl football?, any player worth getting is not going to be available on a loan first.
Who said we were broke? John Henry and Tom Warner have repeatedly said that the money is available for the right players. We also offered £11m for Salah and £16m for Konoplyanka in January.

I think we can rest assured Rodgers will go for a winger given the Jan window exploits. Personally I'd like at least another full back and midfielder or two (and a better back up keeper) as well. After that we mix in some of the up and coming youth players and maybe a cunning free ransfer for some added experience. No need to go crazy but midfield and full backs are our weaknesses so let's try to improve there first. Players to go I'd say will be Borini, Aspas, Ass Man, Reina and Jones. Johnson may well be added to that list if his contract situation isn't resolved. After that we need to ensure we can keep as many of the current squad together as possible.
I guess most of us will identify the same areas for improvement whether or not we are in the CL next season Just we might have to adjust our respective budgets a tad (and find a replacement for Luis)
Assaidi, Borini, Suso, Ilori, Robinson and Wisdom are all due to return from loan. Expect about four recruitments, they'll be split between the now and for the future
I agree with this. We will get 7 players in including Reina, expect around 3 to leave and get in 4 CL class players. Dont agree with wholesale changes by 6-7 players coming in.... We dont want to do a tottingham
3 players who could walk into the first team I think. A CB, a LB and a CM. Add in Borini & Suso who have looked decent and that adds a bit more depth. Then it will be about replacing anyone that leaves.
I think one of them will go. Both nearing 30, neither have been solid and both part of the old guard that we've seen have been moved on by BR. Don't think both will go as need a bit of stability at the back but if we get a decent offer for one of them, can see them being sold.
Agger's got tons of experience but is younger than Toure (who's hardly impressed and is 33 next month). Surely we should be looking to strengthen where possible and not chop and change where we have decent players....not the best but decent enough for where we are at right now. If Ilori is any good we'd have 4 CB's with Skrtel, Sakho and Agger. If Ilori isn't up to it we add one more and that's a solid set of players with Wisdom or Kelly for emergencies.
